Acting Guru Vinod Tharani ‘writes as well as acts’ in Savdhan India

Acting guru Vinod Tharani who has coached quite a lot of well-known actors like Deepika Padukone, Jacqueline Fernandes, Gauri Khan’s cousin Karan Sagoo, Zoha Morani, daughter of Kareem Mohani to name a few, will be featuring in Life OK’s Savdhan India 100 Days 100 Fightbacks. That’s not it, as Vinod happens to be the Writer for this particular episode to be aired on 9 April 2013.

Says Vinod Tharani, “Sa Re Ga Ma India Ltd wanted me to script few stories for them. I have written three episodes for them till now, of which one has been aired already and one is still to be aired. In the second one to hit screens on 9 April, I have acted as well.”

The story is based on the fight for justice of a girl staying at a brothel, Munmun. She wants to escape from the life in the brothel and lead a normal life for her daughter who is growing up fast. However, the lady is exploited everywhere, only to be dragged back to the murky world. Ultimately, Munmun is brutally murdered by one of her customers at the brothel when she refuses to abide to his demands. A maid at the brothel who is a witness to Munmun’s pain and agony decides to get her justice and the entire episode speaks of this story.

Talking about it, Vinod tells us, “This particular story that I have written is based on a brothel in Kolkata and the story dates back to the year 1989.”

On the character he is playing in the episode, Tharani states, “I essay the role of Ajju, the pimp who is famous for his cruel and ruthless acts in the brothel.
Whenever Munmum tries to elope from the place, she is brought back to the same place by Ajju. It was a nice character to essay, and I enjoyed writing it too.”
