“Ek Bhoond Ishqiya is not the typical saas-bahu show”

Says Chhavi Pandey who is the female lead in the upcoming show Ek Boond Ishqiya…

Saba Mumtaz’s show Ek Bhoond Ishqiya which is being produced under the banner of BBC is all set to go on floors soon on Life OK. The promos of the show are very promising. The concept of the show is very creatively written on the basis of the storyline.

On the same we got in touch with Chhavi Pandey to know more about her character, about the storyline of the show, how she bagged this show, difficulties in playing this role and much more.
Let’s have a look on what she said…

Tell us something about your role in Ek Bhoond Ishqiya?
I play the role of a bubbly girl who is a tomboy. My character’s name is Saara and it is a very challenging role for me as in real life as I am totally opposite to Saara. But well that is the only fun in acting as you get to try our hand on different characters and their shades.

How similar is Saara to you in real life?
I feel I am totally opposite to Saara as I have said before. I am very introvert and shy in real life while in reel I am playing a very bubbly girl and a tomboy. But she is just like any other normal girl with minimal make up and simple clothes. I think that today’s generation can connect with Saara very well.

Is this is a total Saas – Bahu show?
No, this is not the typical saas-bahu shows that we see. Even after my marriage in the show there won’t be much of Saas – Bahu saga shown. The concept of the show is very creative and interesting and I am sure it will keep the viewers glued to its storyline. Also there are a lot of twist and turns in the show which will create the curiosity among the viewers to know what is going to happen ahead in the show.
Ek Boond Ishqiya justifies each and every character in the show very well. The main three characters in the show are me, Viraf Phiroz Patel and Vishwajeet Pradhan.

How did you bag this role?
I had got a call from BBC to audition for this role. So I went ahead and I got shortlisted and then I was selected for the role.

What made you take up this role?
This character was challenging for me and as an actor I want to mold myself according to the character that is created for me. It has been quite some time now that the shooting for the show has already started and in the beginning I found it a bit difficult to portray the character but I still tried and I am happy that I am being appreciated for my work by the entire team.

You were offered the upcoming Cinevistaas show Daag too, then why did you not take up that show?
Well, that is true that I was offered the show before and for the same I had given my audition too. I was selected for the show but then later I got to hear that the show was on hold. In between I got an offer for Ek Boond Ishqiya and I thought to give it a shot as after my last done show Teri Meri Love Stories there was a gap of one year when I was not doing any show. So I wanted to take up something. I am lucky enough that I got the offer for Ek Bhoond Ishqiya which is a very innovative show.

You were to do a dance based show named Sang Mere Dol Tu?
Yes, before the offer for the show Daag came, I was offered Sang Mere Dol Tu which was a dance based show. Even the pilot for the same was shot but due to some problem the show couldn’t go on air.
I have signed an exclusive contract with the Star Plus and that is why I kept getting offers for their shows. Star Plus and Life OK are big channels to work with and I am very happy that I am associated with them.

The shooting for the show Ek Bhoond Ishqiya has already begun, so how is it working with your co-actors and the production house?
BBC is very nice to work with. The entire team is very helpful and supportive and I enjoy working with them a lot. The co-actors are also very good to work with and I am happy that I have got to work with very professional people. Even when in I was not keeping well the production house took care of me and took me to the hospital. Also gave me some rest for a day and then I resumed the shooting next day.

We also heard that the shooting was done in Bhopal too?
Yes, that is very true. We had shot for almost 20 to 25 days in Bhopal and it was superb shooting outdoor. I enjoyed very much shooting in the beautiful city of Bhopal.

What expectations do you have from this show?
I have very high expectation from this show. We actors and the entire team are working really hard for this show and we hope that the impact of the show on the viewers is good and they like the show. The concept of the show is very fresh and new.

Have you thought of getting into films?
Yes very much even I wish to do films. I am sure the character that I am playing now in Ek Bhoond Ishqiya will prepare me to portray different shades of character.

We wish Chavi Pandey all the very best for her upcoming show Ek Bhoond Ishqiya.
