Villagers are still playing music at night. Bela says now I am positive education is very effective and strong tool which is why the villagers are trying to stop Bhima from studying so badly. Bhima says I will still study. No circumstance / situation can stop me. He asks his Baba to tell him again how one can concentrate their minds and focus on things they want to accomplish. Ram ji tells him. Bhima picks up his notebook and starts studying.
Bala returns to Satara. He asks a man about the empty carriages and finds out that Maharaj is up with a new plan. A lady collides with him. He goes after her as she has dropped her bag. He holds her hand just when she is about to jump off the cliff. He pulls her back up. She shares that she is a widow yet she chose to trust a guy who promised the world to her. He asked me to meet him at the station. I waited there all night but he dint come. I cannot go back to my home now. This society wont let my parents live and they will kill me if they find out about any of this. I have no alternative but to die. He calls her brave for making that choice. I have seen the lives of widows very closely. They wont forgive you as this is the biggest crime in their eyes. She asks him why he saved her then. He tells her to live and become an example for the society. Force them to think what I think of you. You can love and marry again as per me. This can only happen when you will live. You have to win over these fears. She says your words show that you understand the pain of people. He says I don’t know that. It is our Baba who teaches us all that. Come with me now.
Devdasi stops Ram ji when he is going somewhere alone. She pulls at his kurta. Ram ji tells her to let go of him but she shouts for help to gather people. Mangesh and few other villagers come there. They glare at Ram ji. Ram ji shouts that he is innocent but they refuse to listen to his pleas. Villagers take him to Panchayat while Mangesh goes to inform Sakpal family.
Bhima tells his mother that Bela Didi is about to finish puja. Please bring milk for both of us. Bhimbai asks Bhima why his Baba hasn’t returned from the market yet. Mangesh says he will come only when he will get over his lust. Bhimbai tells him to watch his mouth. He warns her to be in her limits. She asks him to leave. Bhima also tells him not to say such things for his Baba. Mangesh says I am not interested in seeing your faces in the morning anyways you speak highly of Ram ji. Go to Panchayat and see the truth for yourselves. Meera calls it a lie. You must have done something to take revenge. Bhimbai also supports her. Mangesh tells them to stop crying. Go to Panchayat and find out what Ram ji has done! He walks away in a huff. They all run to the Panchayat.
People from lower community are discussing whether Ram ji can do such thing or not. A guy says no woman will malign her dignity on her own. Another guy is still suspicious that something is fishy. They decide to go to the Panchayat and see for themselves.
The girl tells Bala that his Baba must be well respected in the society. Bala denies. People will different opinions aren’t welcomed by society. They try to shake the roots of people like us every now and then. We all respect him very much. We had different opinions about life once yet he stood by me. He is our inspiration. I can say all this because of his teachings. Come to our home with me. You can stay there for a few days. She refuses. I am widow and I chose to fall in love with someone even when I was a widow. I cannot come with you. He speaks of the societal norms. She refuses to come with him and he refuses to leave her alone. What’s the guarantee that you wont try to commit suicide again? I don’t think it’s the right thing to do. She shakes her head. he gives her 3 choices – go back to her home, come with him to his home or come with him to police station.
Devdasi lies to everyone in the Panchayat about how Ram ji tried to take advantage of her in the morning. Now my dharma and dignity is in your hands. She sheds crocodile tears. Maharaj asks Ram ji to share his side of the story as well. Ram ji tells the truth. Panch ask him if this girl misbehaved with him. Ram ji nods. They ask for proof. We have heard something like this for the first time. Bhimbai says you know him since a year only while I know him since many years. He cannot do this. Maharaj says this is the difference between love and lust. He cast an evil eye on a Devdasi!
Precap: Maharaj pronounces Ram ji guilty. Let’s shave his head, blacken his face and have him sit on a horse. Let that horse go around Satara. He will then learn what dharma and faith stand for.
