I am sensitive and mischievous like Kiya in real life: Bharati Kumar

The very pretty Bharati Kumar, who essays the role of Kiya, the diva of The Buddy Project (Sunshine Productions) on Channel [V], is enjoying playing the coy and ‘in love’ girl when compared to the arrogant one she played earlier.

Says the petite actor, “It is fun, sometimes I do feel stupid the way Kiya complains about everything but the creatives say that’s how girls behave in love. But Kiya is very close to my heart and I try doing everything to give justice to her character.”

The actor, who was earlier seen in Ishaan and Humse Hai Life on the same channel, feels that The Buddy Project has been her best school.

“The journey has been fantastic and thankfully, it is still going great. I have been able to explore so many characters through this role. It has not only groomed me as an actor, but has also given me so much popularity,” Bharati informs.

She smiles to say that she never thought that she would be able to play Kiya ever. “She is a star with a lot of attitude, who does not give a damn to people around her. I was scared that I will never be able to show the aggressive side to hers,” the actress quips.
So how much does she relate to the character now, having played it for a while? “Well, some characteristics of Kiya are similar to me. Like her, I am also very mischievous and like to have fun with my friends. I really enjoy enacting the comedy tracks as I have to give the least effort on them, as it comes naturally to me. I am also very sensitive like Kiya,” Bharati avers.

On a certain amount of insecurity looming in when new characters enter the show for season 2, she quips, “We were a bit worried about how the new people would gel with us. We are literally like a family and hang around together. So these new entrants could have spoiled that, but I feel we are blessed that every one of them is very nice and have managed to bond with us very well. We have loads of fun shooting together.”

Talking about the kind of roles she would want to play, Bharati giggles, “I would actually love to play a druggie. And if not, a negative character or someone who does everything wrong; that will be really exciting for me.”

Having a passion for dance, the actor hopes to participate in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa soon. Bharati is also a trained tabla player, as she goes on to add, “I used to play tabla in school, and I am really interested in playing all percussion instruments and I dream of playing the drums someday.”

The girl who loves socialising and having fun, is also is a regular swimmer and enjoys watching movies. Bharati concludes “Most of the times, I am just lost in my dream world.”

Bharati, we wish you a great future!!!
