‘I did not want to continue to be a part of a show which was purely a mythological and costume drama

Earlier, we had reported that Yash Pandit who is currently essaying the role of Satya and Veer in Life Ok’s Savitri (Flying Turtles Films) is being replaced on the show because he doesn’t fit into the role of a rough and tough warrior. The series is being revamped to go back to 1000 years in the past in which Veer, Rahukaal and Damayanti are yet to meet one another.

Yash decided to talk in detail today about his exit from the show. He informed us, “I had auditioned for the role of the modern day Satya. Now, with the show going back into the past, I decided to leave the show as I did not want to continue to be a part of a serial which was purely a mythological and costume drama in which I have to sport a moustache. It is just that a few days earlier, I did not want to comment in detail on this.”

Was it that the makers thought that he didn’t fit into the role of a mighty warrior? He refuted that by explaining, “In the debut episode, I had played the ancient warrior Veer who had fought with Rahukaal on screen for about ten minutes. It had gone down very well with the viewers clocking a TRP of 2.2. If Rajnikanth can fight with about a hundred people without having the greatest physique and if Brad Pitt in Troy could have played Achilles who fights against giants; so I too can be convincing as the valiant Veer.”

He avers that his leaving the project was handled very amicably. “I play cricket with Producer Shabbir Ahluwalia. It was a mutual decision which was done very peacefully. It is a smooth exit.”

We will miss Yash on Savitri. We wish him all the best in his career ahead.
