Initially, my parents did not want me to take up Baware – Priya Tandon

How many times do we come across people who never aspired to be actors but ended up being a part of the entertainment industry?

We are talking about Priya Tandon, who never thought she would pursue her hobby of acting as a career. A math honors graduate, the pretty Delhiite was an employee with a finance firm and was content entertaining the masses via theatre but destiny had something special in store for her.

We talk to Priya about her debut show, Bhatak Lena Baware on Life OK.

Talking about how she ended up making her debut with Life OK’s latest presentation, she said, “My parents initially opposed my decision to come to Mumbai as they are very scared of the glamour and glitz this industry offers. I refused to eat food, cried for days and after a lot of convincing my parents agreed when my producer Sudhir Sharma spoke to them. My parents support me now and I feel wonderful to be a part of the show. I have never faced the camera and nor do I understand technical aspects. It is a very good learning experience for me.”

Priya plays Shaheen in the show who is very humble and grounded and yet very chirpy stylish and likes flaunting her attitude and good looks.

Talking about her experience shooting for Bhatak Lena Baware from two months she stated, “Personally I believe in pathos and I am very comfortable enacting it. Even while doing theatre I essayed roles which involved a lot of emotions. But the character of Shaheen is very different as she is unique as she indulges into healthy flirting, is stylish yet grounded. This kind of a role is very fresh to me.”

Taking about the bond she shares with her co-actors Priya laughed and shared how they bully her since she does not understand majority of technical terms. “I am the youngest in the team and everyone uses advanced technical terms just to see me react and agree with them even if I don’t understand. Vinita (Thakkar), Akhlaque (Khan) and Abhishek (Rawat) treat me like a kid and support me to the fullest.”

“I owe my gratitude and thanks to Sudhir Sharma as I came to Mumbai with blind faith on him and I am not disappointed. He is like a family to me and I whenever I need anything he is always there to take care of me. Also I owe my thanks to Neelesh Misra whom I am a great fan of, as it is only because of him I am here. He posted audition details on social networking site Facebook and here I am!”

Priya we wish you all the best with your new life as an actor!!!
