It is wonderful to play a sane character in this crazy set up – Navina Bole

It’s a mad, mad, mad, mad world- no we are not talking about the 1963 American epic comedy film, produced and directed by Stanley Kramer and starring Spencer Tracy . We are referring to SAB TV’s Jeannie Aur Juju (Eagle Films Pvt Ltd). The characters in this hilarious series are lovably insane. Well, almost all of them are eccentric- except for Priya who plays Captain Vicky’s (Ali Asgar) girlfriend.

Navina Bole, the pretty lady who plays Priya, says with a laugh, “It is wonderful to play a sane character in this crazy set up. It’s very enjoyable to essay the role of someone who is so different from me. I am an introvert in real life whereas my reel character is an extrovert and stylish. It’s great fun to execute the scenes in which I have to go on looking angrily at Ali.”

The actress is thoroughly enjoying the experience of being a part of this show as it is, after all, a comedy. “I am laughing on Jeannie Aur Juju instead of crying copiously. We don’t have to memorise lengthy dialogues. Our team has immense fun improvising.”

Navina has added some nuances to her character. “Priya keeps on telling Captain Vicky, ‘Tum to kuch bolo hi mat’. That has become like a takiya kalam. It was also my idea to address Vicky as ‘sweetie pie’.”
When asked who her favourite comedians are she replied, “I have great respect for Rowan Sebastian Atkinson who plays Mr Bean, Kapil Sharma, Johnny Lever, Raju Srivastav and Bharti Singh.”

Other than the comic element, the actress feels that fantasy makes her serial endearing. “Jeannie Aur Juju is very popular amongst kids as well as adults as it transports viewers from a world of harsh reality to an amazing place of magic and wonder.”
