It’s high time people change their mindset and start respecting women: Pooja ‘Draupadi’ Sharma

With the ‘vastra haran’ scene all set to air in Star Plus’ magnum opus Mahabharat (Swastik Productions) soon, we spoke to Pooja Sharma aka Draupadi and asked her to talk about her experience while shooting for this dramatic scene.

Shared Pooja, “Oh, I can’t even express in words what I felt as a woman while enacting that particular scene. And if someone thinks that Draupadi must have felt weak while the vastra haran act was on, viewers should see the episode to get the real picture. I am very thankful to my writers and producer (Saurabh Tewary) to have interpreted the scene so beautifully. Nobody would have imagined that the incident could be depicted so well on screen.”

“It was a phenomenal experience to shoot the scene and I really loved every bit of it. I felt empowered and strong as a woman and am sure Draupadi too must have had the same feeling. It was indeed mind blowing the way I was chuckling at all the boys on the sets citing that I was the one who was left strong while they all lost (laughs),” added the beautiful girl.

And when we asked Pooja of her thinking about women who faced such incidents long back in history and do so also in the current scenario, she explained,
“Honestly, Mahabharat has imparted a lot of teaching to us which sadly we have never followed. There have been relevant incidents which give the correct gyaan about the end result of one’s action. It’s sad that nobody ever valued those teaching.”

“It has been clearly defined that the more you disrespect women, the closer you come to your destruction. Time and again women have been disregarded and Mahabharat has many examples of the same. But at the end, it has also been proved that the one who practices such acts, falls flat on the face. With crimes on the rise against women in our country, I feel it’s high time that people change their mindset and start respecting women,” Pooja observed.

That’s exactly how a fiery woman sounds, Pooja!
