MATHURS’ – DINING HALL
Indu in his brown kurta is back at the dining table being subjected to irate glares of his father-in-law. An unnerving silence looms over the table for a few moments till Sadanand decides to disrupt the stillness. After ranting for a few minutes, he goes on to reveal an incident that happened to him that morning
‘Indu…today, I was saved thanks to you!’
This comment surprises one and all seated there. The lawyer then goes on to elaborate that he’d had a brief brush against someone earlier in the day, which started turning ugly. During the escalating tiff, all Sadanand needed to do was to mention that ‘Indu Singh’ was his nephew – and the man took to his heels in no time.

Hearing out the story, an awkward Indu Singh doesn’t appreciate it or its implications. He cuts short his uncle’s narration and warns the man not to utilize his name for anything of the sort in future. When Sadanad tries justifying himself, Indu stands up from the table and proceeds to warn his uncle angrily ‘I’m trying to change myself… and you all keep luring me back into my old life…I don’t want part of all this anymore…’

Indu storms off from the table leaving his dinner behind. Everyone seated there is quite puzzled by his excessive reaction – especially Sanchi!

SANCHI’S ROOM
Sanchi approaches Indu with a plate of food in her hand. While the young man stands by the window – sulking – Sanchi advices him that he wouldn’t achieve anything by remaining hungry. As the grim man doesn’t heed her words, she’s compelled to drag him away and make him take a seat.
Morose, Indu finally speaks up ‘A man’s bad deeds never leave him behind…I’ve tried making everyone understand, but no one wants to see the truth’

Realizing that her husband seemed apprehensive about something, Sanchi counsels him lovingly. Forcibly turning his face towards her, the girl requests him to have patience since he’s just set out on the path of reforming himself ‘People will take time to understand the new ‘you’..besides… I’m with you, right?’

Holding his arm, she comforts him with affection. Soon after, she tears a piece of chappati from his plate and tries feeding him. However, the ‘brooding’ young man turns his face away – stating that he wasn’t in the ‘mood’ to eat.
Widening her eyes, Sanchi takes him to task with mock-anger ‘How dare you…now open your mouth!’

When he continues to disregard her requests, Sanchi moves forth to forcibly open his mouth and stuff the piece inside it. Needless to say, Indu can’t help but smile at his wife’s adorable antics. He gazes at the beaming girl in awe as she picks another piece from his plate. Just as Sanchi is about to feed him his second morsel, he stops her in her tracks. Taking the piece from her hand, Indu decides to feed her instead.

However, while he does so – she ends up playfully biting his finger. Wincing in pain, the young man instantly retracts his hands and complains about her pranks. Subsequently noticing that the ‘supposedly’ injured man seemed to hold on to his finger for longer than she’d expected, Sanchi offers to have a look at it. As he obliges, she soothes his fingers and then gives him a mischievous peck, before looking up to him with a teasing smile.
Beyond this point, Indu can’t seem to resist his amorous temptations. Deciding to play along, he gets into an act ‘My hand is not going to heal any time soon…you’ve bitten my finger…the only way I’ll get better is if I get to bite your’s!’

Sanchi smiles ‘Is it?’
He nods his head. She then willingly hands her palm to him ‘Fine… go ahead then…’
Delighted by her sportive offer, Indu receives her hand and warns her ‘I tell you…I’ll really bite you…’
‘Let’s see’
Taking her hand close to his lips, he alerts her once again ‘I will…’
‘Fine’ she submits
Just as he’s about to do so, she slips her hand back and chuckles to herself. Indu can’t help but grin.
The flirtatious pair then go on to feed each other morsels- playing, teasing and nibbling each other’s fingers/morsels as they do so.

Nevertheless, they don’t realize that they were being watched by their uncle. (How disgusting)! Possibly jealous of this new happiness in Indu’s life, Sadanand has still not recovered from Indu’s humiliating outburst earlier. The lawyer vows revenge.

NEXT MORNING – SUNDAY
MATHURS’ – HALL
Sanchi is reading a magazine when her mother approaches her to find out what should be prepared for lunch. Reflecting on the thought, Sanchi gets an idea. Since it was Sunday, she suggests that they could all go out together-spend some time and have lunch. Besides, this would also be a good bonding opportunity for the estranged father and son-in-law too!
Veena is worried about finances, but Sanchi replies that having a good time didn’t necessarily have to mean a lot of money!

Indu who’d just arrived at the scene chimes in. Supporting his wife’s sentiments, he too suggests that they should step out for lunch – in fact to a 5 star restaurant. Sanchi wonders where he’d get the money to cater to this outing. Nevertheless, Indu assures her that it was his money and not gained through ill means ‘Guddu owed me some previously…he’s returning it to me now…’ he explains.
Sanchi and Veena are sold on the idea in no time. Since Tarachand was busy at his shop, Sanchi decides to give him and call to request him to come home early.

Once the excited Sanchi and Veena disappear to get themselves ready, Indu makes a call to his trusted aide Guddu ‘Have you arranged for the money?’
Guddu affirms that he had the 25,000 with him – making Indu quite happy.

Some time later…
It was now past 1pm and Tarachand had not yet returned home – making Veena increasingly worried.

No sooner than Sanchi is about to give her father a call, Tarachand himself returns home. Appearing quite dejected, the father doesn’t respond favourably to Sanchi’s joyous plans ‘You all go ahead…I’m not coming’ he replies heavy-heartedly
Anxious, Veena enquires about the reason behind his gloominess and Tarachand lets her know that he’d just lost his job. The family are quite taken aback.
‘Our shopkeeper Pathak ji has been brutally beaten up by some men…’ the father laments ‘His shop has been forcefully emptied…Pathak ji is in very bad shape now…someone’s done this for money’

The very mention of ‘Pathak ji’ makes Indu cringe in his spot! The brute just comes to the sordid realization that the shop his gang had forcibly vacated was the very shop in which Tarachand used to work! A few shades paler, Indu watches in horror as Tarachand continues narrating the story of the long-standing enmity between the shopkeeper Mr. Pathak and shop owner Mr. Chaturvedi. It all becomes crystal clear.

As a crestfallen Tarachand walks away – followed by Veena, Sanchi turns to her husband. Swiftly trying to cover up his guilt, Indu faces her.
‘Who would have done such a dastardly deed…’ she asks sadly ‘Indu… you can find out, right?’
Sanchi then goes on to reveal that Mr.Pathak was a very honourable man and a true friend/supporter of the Mathurs’ in many-a-crisis. This information only makes him all the more uncomfortable.

Thereafter, the troubled young man encourages Sanchi to stay with her dejected father – fibbing that he’d investigate who’d done the deed.
Once the concerned sanchi leaves, Indu silently ponders upon the unfortunate turn of events ‘Out of all the shops in Benaras, was this the one I had to get the responsibility of vacating…anyway…what’s happened has happened… as long as they don’t find out about anything…I’m fine…’

SANCHI’S ROOM
Rushing to his room, Indu hastily dials Guddu’s number. He quickly confirms that the shop his gang had vacated was indeed the shop Tarachand was referring to. Soon after, Indu is about to dictate a few instructions to his group when Sanchi walks in unexpectedly. Startled, Indu drops the phone.
Noticing his expressions, Sanchi enquires why he appeared so tense. However, Indu attempts to cover up his angst with a few lame excuses. The puzzled Sanchi is not totally convinced, but lets go of the matter for then.

Meanwhile – Since their conversation had been cut in half, the boys decide to meet Indu at the Mathur home and to hand him the money over.

PANDEY HOUSE
There is a brief Abhimanyu – Sobha – Roop scene of Manwa requesting his mother for money but receiving only insults in return.

MATHURS’ – KITCHEN
Radha comes forth to parade a display of mock-regard towards Veena.

MOHALLA
Just as Indu is stepping out to make a call to his friends, he notices his gang walking towards the Mathur house. Worried, he instantly shuts the main door and approaches them – basically in an attempt to shoo them away from the scene as soon as possible. Not understanding the reason behind Indu’s agitated state, they continue remaining calm and elaborating on things. They even take out the bundle of notes to hand it over. Nonetheless, Indu admonishes his boys and asks them to keep the bundle hidden – while repeatedly advising them to scoot off as quicklyas they could.

However; unfortunately for the gang and its leader – Tarachand opens the door at this precise moment and catches the monetary transaction going on between the group.
It doesn’t take him long to understand what would have transpired.

When Indu steps inside the house, he is confronted by the stern glares of Tarachand. Putting his hands on his hips, the stubborn young man glares back – slipping into a myriad of worrying thoughts as he does so!

PRECAP
Indu and his gang are anxiously waiting in Sanchi’s hall when Tarachand announces that Pathak ji was coming home. It was a plan by Tarachand so that the shopkeeper could identify his assailants. While Sanchi is confounded, Indu is horrified!
