Mahatma gandhi is associated with south africa bcoz it was the place that gave a motive to his life. You don’t accociate a person to a place just bcoz of his birth, he is accociated to the place where he achives greatness. If nepal has so much sentiments for buddha then why nepal refused to give refuge to tibetans when china attacked them. India stood by buddhists even when we had to face a deadly war against china. He achived enlightenment at bodhgaya.
He gave his first sermon at sarnath.
He achived parinirvana(for dickheads like you it means death) at kushinagar,
except lumbini all other places are in india. This is the history. Nepal is birth place of siddharta but india is birthplace of buddha and buddhism.
