Sarika says he came to help me, gave me info about second hand scooty, we are just friends, you asked me not to talk to him, so I did not take his call so he came here to talk to me, what did he do that you are so angry on him. He says she has touched my heart, you know Sarika was there when Raman was scolding me, she did not make me feel it, she did not joke about it. She made me feel happy. I know I m wrong man and did many wrong things, but now I did not have intention to do wrong with Sarika.

He says take this and delete all pics. She says are you mad, no, I m so stupid, I did not think the matter can be something else, I reacted so fast. She says no, she will get spoiled, let her concentrate on studies. He says it won’t spoil her, I will give her. They argue. She says I m her mum, I know whats right and wrong for her, she won’t get video game and that’s final. Raman says she looks my mum more, if Ruhi goes on Ishita, I will pity for her husband.

      PART 1

      He was restless.

It was not an unfamiliar feeling to him, for there was a time in his life when restlessness was always his state of being. However these past few months had made this a foreign feeling for him.

Ishita. It was ironic that the sole reason why he no longer was restless anymore, was the cause of his current impatience.

Pouring himself ice-cold water from the pitcher left by his bedside, Raman walked towards the couch. Ever since his wife had come into his life, demanding a part in his life, by the means of giving his daughter her share of happiness, there had been a sense of contentment in his life.

Sure, they fought, they argued, and she lectured while he taunted, but it was his perfection. I thought she knew this; he roused, while swirling the water in his cup.

When a heart was as bruised as his, and when a soul as battered as his own, he had to be careful, be guarded, he rationalized.

With a heavy sigh, he put the still full glass of water on the floor next to the couch – which his wife had made into her bed – as he slumped down, exhausted with his thoughts.

His past relationship with Shagun had not been a secret, heck he had 2 kids to prove it. Nor had Ishita’s relationship with Shubbu been a secret. But ever since Ishita had mentioned Shubbu again, he could not rest. What had she told him? Love. First love.

Didn’t she know how he felt? Didn’t she realize that his heart shattered the minute she mentioned Shubbu. That he hadn’t expected her to bring him up, as if she still pined of him. It had unnerved him. Made him want to reach for her, and demand that she take it back. Demand that she confirm that she no longer thought about him, wished for him, and most of all love him.

Because he loved her. he didn’t know when it happened. Perhaps it had happened when she had unquestioningly helped him with Adi’s court case. Perhaps it had happened sooner, when she made chicken for his family upon his aunt’s insistence. Perhaps it had happened when she had selflessly agreed to marry him – a beastly arrogant man – for his daughter. Or perhaps it had happened when she’d given his daughter herself, a mother.

…Or perhaps it had happened when she’d first scolded him, reminding him of his responsibilities as a father, and showing him how to love again.

He didn’t know when it had happened, but it had, and it scared the living devil out of Raman. After his failed marriage Raman had promised himself never again. Never would he love as again, and never would he give himself wholeheartedly to anyone – for people he had fast learned, never were faithful. Instead, he’d given his full to his work, and he had loved only his fast and hard earned success. And that suited him just fine. Buried under his work, he did not have to emote; he did not have to care. The more successful he got, the less people expected him to feel, as they labeled him a busy man, and refused to bother him. Sure, it was a boring life. He came home to cold food, and an even colder bed, but that was fine. It meant he was safe from allowing himself from being hurt.

And then came in Ms. Iyer shaking the foundation of his new, and empty life. She came into his life, changed things around, made herself at home in his room, and most importantly in his heart, and then had the audacity to mention Shubbu.

God he loved that woman, and she loved some moron. How fitting. Thank you God, for once again screwing things up. If you’d just stop playing with my love life, that’d be great.

Love. She had loved him. For 12 years. It wasn’t that he was unaware of Shubbu’s existence, but Raman always imagined him to be a loser. For which man would have someone as caring, someone as nurturing, someone as giving, someone so bloody perfect as Ishita, and give her up. Must be a special kind of Madrasi stupid, Raman mused, as he smiled his first smile in hours. Idiot. Blind. Just plain dumb.

Vaaise, sirf ek Punjabi meri Ishita ko jhael sakta. Koi Madrasi mein itna jasbah kahan. No Subramaniyam would have been able to bring out the Jansi Ki Rani within his wife, and that was his favourite bit about her. Bloody dosa eating and vada dipping in chutney fool. It would, he concluded, have taken only a Raman Kumar Bhalla, to wife an Ishita Iyer.

It renowned courage, Raman knew what he had to do. Clearly he had given his dentist wife too much credit. Pfft. Pata tha mujhe. Koi sahi wali doctor nahi hai who, warna itni behwakhoof kaise hoti. He needed to spell it out for her. he needed to finally put his guard down, tell her he loved her, and just pray that she didn’t stomp on his heart.

As if. I’m bloody well charming, good looking. How could she ever say no.

Thinking about his game plan, Raman picked up the glass of cold water, and poured it on the sofa. He hated this damned thing, hated it even more every time Ishita slept there. They had a king sized bed, and she chose to contort her body in an awkward way to fit herself on the couch as if Raman wouldn’t be able to control himself.

She isn’t that far away from the truth, Bhalla, Raman considered and laughed into the empty room.

Just as he was done ruining her beloved “bed”, the woman who’d occupied his thoughts walked in.

“Oh there you are! Why didn’t you come outside to watch some TV with the family? Waise, I figured you were doing some work. Busy ho na aaj kal. Mihika was telling me even Mihir is busy. Anyways Ruhi has decided to let her Romi chachu put her to sleep tonight, and I was getting bored watching the news with Papaji… why are you looking at me like that?”

Raman gave himself a mental shake, and stop smiling at her stupidly. God, he loved her. His wife that said about 90 words per minute, and lectured as a headmistress. Wipe that grin off your face, Bhalla. You aren’t some teenager. Gosh, do this was style. Oh, also. Give Romi a raise at work, and put storytime with Ruhi daily as part of his job requirements.

Walking past her, to lock the bedroom door, Raman ignored her question. For what was he supposed to say?

Ishita had ignored his move, as she had gone to the bathroom to change. While she was gone, Raman made sure the couch was still wet, and sat on the bed, awaiting his wife’s return. When she walked out, wearing a newer salwar suit, he patted the spot next to him.

“I spilled water on the couch a few minutes ago. Sorry” liar, liar pants on fire, Bhalla didn’t you know?

“Oh, that’s fine. I suppose I could go and sleep with Ruhi tonight” Ishita made a move to get up off the bed

Quicker that he thought possible, Raman grabbed for her wrist, “NO! I mean no. sleep here. With me. Wait, this came out wrong. I mean yes, sleep. With me, but next to me. Or with me, your choice, I wont say no. I wouldn’t mind that.” Shut up, Bhalla, stop talking. Maybe pass out, and fake an illness. Never mind, too late, your wife now thinks you’re an idiot. Congratulations for screwing things up.

When she didn’t say anything for the single most insufferable moment of his life, Raman gave himself a mental shake, and decided to man it up. Realizing he still had hold of her wrist, he loosened the pressure, but started to make tiny circles on the inside of her palm. When she shivered, the slightest bit, Raman felt as if he had just passed the biggest hurdle of his life. It pleased him to know that he effected her.

“You can’t leave. We need to talk”

Ishita did not know what was wrong with Raman, but this sounded serious. Plus he looked all flushed and flustered. Maybe he was coming down with the flu. Aware of her hand still a prisoner in his, she turned to face him slightly better, touching her knees with his.

      “Yes Raman, what’s wrong”

Ignoring her question, Raman decided on how he was going to do this. “Ishita, I’m mad at you”

Not in a million years had Ishita expected this. Mad at her? Why? She hadn’t done anything to upset him. Or had she. Going thorough every single detail in her mind, her eyes widened, as she scraped her bottom lip with her teeth.

Was she trying to kill him, with that sudden erotic move? Clearing his throat, Raman continued, “I’m mad at you for what you said about Shubbu.”

And with that, he leaned in, softly placed his lips on hers, and bit into her bottom lip, just as she gasped. Why let the wife gnaw at her lips, when he could do it for her?

    did ishita overeact?

No offence intended…but I thnk ishita is biased when it comes to romi…I mean she was ready to invite param for namkaran ceremony n buy gift for him…also she was ready to take the case agnst shagun back…she is also ready to let simmi get away with all the crap stating she is blinded by love…then why she is not ready to give romi the benefit of doubt here…i know romi has done some shady thngs in past…but why does she forget he is the one who has supported her always…he respects her…lets not forget how many tyms he has been humiliated by raman but his loyalty never wavered…
She blamed romi for amma’s accident…n in yesterday’s episode she slapped him that too publicly. ..she lectured raman for yelling at him in front of others …n she went one step further and slapped him…come on gurl why the double standards…??
there is high chance that romi might rebel if this continues n his patience is tested to its extreme… remember people are not wrong but circumstances make them…I so dont want this to happen…I love their devar-bhabhi bonding its so cute…I dont want it to ruin bcos of ishita’s MU…jus my thought.

    DT interview
I’m a totally fans actor – Divyanka Tripathi

The very beautiful, extremely sweet, loving and super cute Divyanka Tripathi is presently seen in one of the highest TRP grosser of television ‘Ye Hai Mohabbatein’ as a dentist. She is talented and have tried almost all genres on TV. In an exclusive Interview with Divyanka, we find her friendly and a lovely human being.

    Excerpts:

We heard, you’ve been bit by a honey bee, so how are you now?

Yeah, I’m better now.. it takes sometime.. it goes in it’s own time. Actually I was shooting for Yeh Hai Mohabbatein and suddenly this honey bee bit me in between of a shot and I was like shouting Aaaaaaaaaaa.. (Laughs) and all my director and everyone came running to me. I could actually see the sting down there in my arm and the bee glued to my skin. I was literally seeing it happening (Giggles) and the bee, when I removed it, it just died. (Sounded low n sad) The sting was still there in my arm and then somebody with good nails, pulled it out and It was painful. (Stresses on “Painful”) That day I didn’t expected it to be that bad as immediately someone rubbed an iron key on the affected spot of my arm. It was very painful. I was standing in middle of a shot at Chandiwali studios and it’s all greenary and open area so obviously nothing could’ve been avaiable there and though the unit members rubbed the spot with an iron key and I didn’t expected it to be any bad so I just took an anti-allergic and slept but when I woke up in the morning, it was swelled up like crazy. I couldn’t pull up my sleeve.. it was very painful. And you know? The most interesting part was the tips and tricks people were giving me for it’s cure. Someone said you should have rubbed an iron key, I did that. Someone said, you should’ve applied the wet soil of Tulsi plant after that and I was like, where would I’ve found a tulsi plant.? Then someone said, you should’ve applied calcium (choona) and again, where would I’ve found a Pan shop there? And the most weird one, someone said, if you would’ve come along with us to mazaar, aapki nazar utarwa dete, jhadwa dete.. and I was like, ab main jhadwane jaun.? I was getting entertained by the honey bee sting. (Laughs) Actually you know production people are not always very famous, they are generally very infamous for their deeds and this time agar hum shuddh hindi mein bolein toh actually production waale ne mujhe choona lagaya (Laughs) Means literally it happened with me! (Giggles) It was fun, despite of so much pain, I was really entertained. (Laughs)

How do you feel about success of show despite of it being at 11pm SLOT?

Yeah, it was a surprise actually. When we started off with the show, with the signing firstly, I signed for it in January last year with few actors of the show, though Karan joined it quite late. He signed it like in the last stages. The waiting period was killing, ’cause firstly we didn’t know how would the show fell. The only thing which was promising enough was it’s storyline and Ekta Kapoor. If Ekta had thought of something, if she has put in her hand in something then you can be assure of show being really good. Secondly, when I heard about the storyline and my character, I fell in love with it. The character really touched me and if I wouldn’t be able to feel then I wouldn’t be able to portray it well. So, this was the only motivating thing ’cause gaining success at an 11pm SLOT is very dicey and still I stuck with it. I just left it all in the hands of Almighty, as whatever he’ll do will be the best. And the worst part of this industry is, when you already have work, you’ll get lots more. After signing for YHM, I got many amazing offers and I denied them all with a heavy heart. (Giggles) I maintained my professionalism. I told myself, I’m with this show and I will stay with it and now, it’s paying off. Now it feels, that my decision was right, it was good. They say, one must trust their gut feeling and I trusted that, I kept waiting for the show. So, this notion of listening to one’s gut feeling, actually works.

You’re really good with expressions. How do you manage that?

Now, what should I say? (Giggles) I’m a big fan of Madhubala ji. When I was starting off my acting career, I always thought that one should be pro with it. If you notice Madhubala ji, in a song itself she carries so many expressions and it seems so effortless that you can’t make out when she changed. So, I thought I should be that good.. obviously I can never copy her, nobody can ever be Madhubala ji, but what I do is, I feel it. I don’t put in much efforts ’cause if I will then it’ll look mechanical. I just, be it.

I’m being Ishita at present and that is what I follow always. When I was doing Dulhan, I was being Vidya. Everyone would feel that this girl can’t speak, she won’t utter even a word. In fact, some people thought I’m illiterate. (Laughs) At that time, people used to treat me like a Bechari and when I was doing Mrs.and Mr.Sharma Allahabad waale, people felt, she is a crazy woman. (Giggles) And she can’t even talk in a normal tone. The character was of a woman, highly mad after her husband and when I used to meet people, they would demand to see how I remove evil eye. (Laughs) People never felt that I would be educated or I would converse in English, they used to talk to me in Allahabadi language because I became it. I convinced people that I’m the character, I’m playing. And this is the first time, I’m able to talk in English as a character.(Laughs) Now, people interact with me in English. (Giggles) So, that’s how I do my thing. Everyone has their own way, I’m a methodical actor.

How is the bonding on the set? Who is your buddy?

That’s the best part. We’ve no cat fight or dog fight or whatever, on our set. There’s no fight at all. (Giggles). Everybody is really COOL. Like a family, where every member is of different temperament but still they live together, they’re together because they’re meant to be, it’s same on our set. Karan is poles apart from me. We are completely opposite of each other, if I’ll say a, he’ll say, b. If I’ll say c, he’ll say, d but that’s the best thing I think, because that’s what make us stand together. If there would’ve been any similarity in between us then there would’ve been a chance of fights but when there’s nothing to talk about, fight is really out of question. Koi gunjaish hi nahi hai.. fight karenge kis baare mein.? (Giggles) He is a party person, I’m a family person. He talks too much, I talk very less on set. He is a prankster and I just smile at his pranks. On-screen I do masti and off-screen he does. (Giggles) We’ve a very comical rapo on the set and I totally love it. We really enjoy on set.

    How is Ruhanika Dhawan?

She is a sweetheart. You can never get mad at her. In fact, if I’ve to do a scene where I’ve to get mad at her, I’ve to psych myself, I’ve to tell myself that it’s a scene and I’ve to do it. When kids of her age, act in this industry, they kinda lose their innocence. They look big, they act big because obviously, they become mature under the influence of the atmosphere they’re in but thankfully, her innocence is still preserved and I like that in her. I try to protect her. I’m very protective of her. In fact, if anyone uses foul language around her, I’m the first one to stop them. I can’t allow smoking around her, I cannot allow anything bad, happening around her. I’m like chatla-phirta encyclopedia for her, chalta-phirta classroom for her. (Giggles) She is almost like my baby, right now.

What you’ve learnt through Ye Hai Mohabattein?

I’ve learnt that one should have faith in life. One should keep faith. You never know what’s in store so you should never feel hopeless in life because life can never be really rude towards you, we are rude towards ourselves. We say that we cannot do this, we cannot do that, we lose hope, we act negative. Life always gives you surprises. If we talk about Ishita, she couldn’t be a mother but now, she is a mother and an amazing mother. If we see, another point then, people say a step mother cannot love children. There’s this stigma attached with the name of step mother, but here Ishita is a step mother and she is the best mother possible. I feel, if I would’ve been a step mother then I would’ve been like this only. If you see Raman, he had no love in his life and now he has the love of his life. Though he hasn’t realized it yet but he has it. So, somehow life has shown the way itself and I think one must always keep his/her faith intact.

You’re very much experienced in mountaineering and rifle shooting. Do you still do that?

Whenever I go back to Bhopal, I always do it. Every alternate Sunday, they’ve rifle shooting practice in Bhopal so I still try doing it. In fact, last year they had the rifle shooting competition, I went there, I participated and I won! So, I just go there, bag prizes, come back to Mumbai and feel extremely good about it. I’m a good rifle shooter and I still miss it a lot. I would like to join the Eklavya shooting academy here in Mumbai sometime but then, I don’t have anytime as of now. If I’ll ever get time, I would definitely love to join it.

What do you do in your free time?

I give interviews (Laughs) I prefer going on long drives. If I’ve a half day or a day I would prefer going on a long drive with my friends. I love reading BOOKS and I love watching movies. I’ve grown up watching movies. My Parents used to take us to the movies and we had such a big this movie worm in us that we used to watch all the movies, even the ones, received zero star in the review (Laughs)

Now, I really miss all that ’cause now I’ve to find a company. At times, my friends are busy so I just watch rom-coms at home ’cause watching movie alone in a theatre ain’t fun!

    Do you cook?

I’m not much of cook. I cook only to impress people. (Giggles) When I feel like I’ve to impress someone and have to grab some compliments from them, I cook and I sit infront of them to notice their expressions, while they eat and I want taareef! I want compliments, I’m very clear about it. (Giggles) And, I’m almost like Shabri as I taste the food so many times while cooking. I’ll serve the food only if the taste is apt. I don’t eat non-veg but I do cook and only to impress my non-vegetarian friends. See, I’m a little selfish, Haha.. (Laughs) Most women don’t accept this but main khullam-khulla bolti hoon that I cook to impress people. (Laughs) In fact, abhi there’s a sequence which is about to come in Yeh Hai Mohabbatein that I cook for Raman and he doesn’t likes it but she is Ishita. Divyanka is different, she won’t serve before tasting the food and if the taste is not good, even a li’l bit then too, that food will directly go down the drain instead of dining table. (Giggles)

Describe your experience working with Balaji Telefilms?

Superb. Absolutely superb. They are amazing as the production house. They work very systemically and I’m very satisfied working them as an actor because firstly there is no interference. There is, but that’s for the good while in other production house’ they interfere every now and then. Here everybody works towards one goal, which is producing good result. Everybody wants TRP and I also want the same. I want my work to be as good as to make audience go crazy.

    Message to your fans?

I’m totally a fans actor and hands down when I say, I feel awarded when they like my work, appreciate my work and I actually listen to them. When I get their feedback and if they’re not liking certain things I try to justify it anyhow with my acting if something doesn’t seem justified. If they don’t like any saree of mine or hairstyle then I do listen to them. If it’s necessary for the character then I don’ t react but if it’s not then I defintely listen to their suggestions and I actually work on it because it’s like my business. It’s like demand and supply rule applies here. My fans are my clients and whatever my clients demand I supply (Giggles) I do everything according to their demands, according to their need. As I said, I work for compliments! (Laughs)
