Case 78 : Doubt: Husband is murdered

Shree is playing chess by himself in the ETF office.Chotu joins him & asks him why he didnt invite him to play.Shree Chotu missing Sakshi.Aisha arrives & they welcome her.She is informed about Sakshi’s dismissal.Rathore arrives & welcomes Aisha back.

A woman Madhu returns from shopping late at night & finds the door to her house ajar.As she enters her home she finds a man bending over her husband with a knife dripping with blood.Her husband has been stabbed.
She screams & the man pushes her & runs out into the night.Madhu gives a chase but falls down near her gate.She hurries back to her husband but he is dead.

ETF arrives.Arjun & Rathore walk in & begin their investigations.Shree looks around & says there is no robbery or anything.
Liza informs them that death occurred only a little while ago.Arjun says it happened at 9.17 pm.Liza is shocked & asks how could he say that without any tests.Arjun shows her the smashed watch of the dead man which has stopped at 9.17 & says Common Sense!

He then notices that the evening pooja has been performed & the diya has burned out.

Aisha is consoling the wife.Arjun & Rathore join them.The husband KK was an elderly man who just had a bypass surgery a month ago & was recovering at home.Everyone notices that the wife is really very young & pretty.She tells them everything that happened.She also mentions a strange telephone call
she has received earlier in the day where a man had warned her to be careful of her husband.She had hung up on him.

Shree is ordered to trace the caller.

In the ETF interrogation room the wife is being interviewed by Arjun & Rathore.Just then Shree brings in the caller & it turns out to the man who was bending over the dead body.Madhu charges at him yelling he is the murderer.
The man denies this & Arjun sarcastically asks him to tell what was he doing in the house.

The man is Diwakar a private investigator who was hired to tail Madhu.He claims he was hired by Madhu’s husband to check if she was a loyal wife & had met him regarding this several times.
Madhu says her husband could not even walk properly he could go out to meet anyone.But Diwakar says he met her husband many times & gave him reports & received money from him at a hotel.Arjun shows him KK’s picture & asks him if he was the man who claimed to be Madhu’s husband.
Diwakar says no it was a different man.All are shocked.

Rathore & Arjun decide to go the hotel to enquire.There they find out that it was Vineet, KK’s lawyer who had hired Diwakar.

They locate him in Madhu’s house where he has come to offer condolences for KK’s death.Arjun & Rathore confront him & he admits hiring Diwakar to check on Madhu.He say he did this on KK’s orders.KK had been cheated by his first wife for which he had divorced her.And now as he wanted to transfer his property to Madhu he wanted
to make sure she was loyal to him.Vineet had come to the house on the day of the murder & assured KK that Madhu was a dedicated wife.KK had asked him to prepare the transfer papers.Vineet had to travel that night so he says he will do it once he comes back.

At this point Arjun notices a flower man delivering the daily pooja flowers to the house.

Rathore receives a call from the Home Ministry ordering him to reinstate Sakshi back into the ETF.Rathore worriedly agrees & cuts the call.He informs Arjun & waits for him to say something.Arjun is silent & Rathore is till waiting.Then Arjun says you do what u have to & I’ll do what I have to.

Sakshi is sitting in the conference room & Ash & ChoRee welcome her.Ash says how come she managed to get back in & Sakshi says she cannot leave without having Arjun kicked out of ETF.

Rathore & Arjun enter & Sakshi greets them smiling too sweetly.Arjun ignores her & Rathore too barely acknowledges her.
They get back to discussion of the case.They have reached a dead end.Shree informs them of frequent calls between KK & his first wife Shivani.Shivani has been calling from Nepal.Sakshi gives a tidbit that the murder weapon too is from Nepal.

Arjun, Ash & Rathore go to interrogate Shivani.She is packing to leave.Arjun confronts her & she say she was contacting KK for money.She says at first he had refused but later had called her home & given her a cheque for ten lakhs.She claims to have a kidney problem but Arjun notices chips, biscuits & Milk bottles i te room.Aisha too notices a box
containing the same type of murder weapon.Shivani says she had gifted one to KK.Rathore tells her not to leave the city & ETF leaves.

Arjun orders Shivani’s medical claim be checked.

In the conference room Sakshi tries to give a report to Arjun but he cuts her midway & orders Shree to call in Liza.Liza reports her findings from the autopsy but nothing conclusive is found.Chotu informs them that Shivani does not have any kidney problem.he asks how did Arjun know something was wrong.Arjun says Shivani had been eating chips, biscuits & processed milk which are poison for someone with kidney ailments.Arjun racks his brain for a lead but comes up zilch.All the suspects have strong alibi for 9.17 pm & the ETF team finds itself at a dead end.

Arjun is leaving in his car & Sakshi joins him uninvited.She tries talking to him saying she does not mean to irritate him.All she wants is for him to smile.There is some long drawn out dialoguebaazi here Im sorry I had muted it.

Suddenly Arjun swerves his car around & calls Shree telling him to gather everyone in the conference room.

Arjun storms in & tells Shree to pull up Madhu’s shopping list from her credit card statement.He notices something & orders Madhu’s parking stubs to be checked.

At Madhu’s house Arjun confronts her about visiting the shopping mall twice.He says she was in the house from 8.45 to 9.35 the time at which the murder was committed.He shows her the parking stubs.He says why would she go back a second time to buy just one item so late in the night.

Madhu breaks down & admits to murdering KK.She says she was distressed by KK’s action of setting a PI to follow her.Add to that she noticed Shivani leaving her house.She had also heard KK ordering his lawyer Vineet to prepare documents.Putting all this together madhu had thought KK had decided to divorce her & remarry Shivani as he suspected her of infidelity.
Seeing that all her hard work & dedication being insulted this way she stabbed KK with the knife Shivani brought for him.Vineet says she should have talked to him first.the documents were for tranferring Rs 100 crore to her & not divorcing her.Madhu screams out in agony.Arjun says doubt always ruins liives & walks out of there.Rathore orders Madhu to be arrested.
