Bollywood is my next step: Asmita Sood

With a stint at Miss India and a few films down South in her kitty, the beautiful and good looking Asmita Sood is all set to make her TV debut with Star Plus’ Badtameez Dil (Saurabh Tewari Films).

“The makers, who are known for the wonderful shows like Madhubala and Rangrasiya, were the prime reason why I decided to do Badtameez Dil. I don’t really watch TV and the only show that I remember my watching was Kasautii on Star Plus at 8:30 pm. Interestingly, our show is slotted at the same time,” smiled the girl.

When we quizzed her about her transition from modelling to acting, Asmita said, “I do not follow rules. To be honest, all I wanted was to be on the bill boards as a model. After Miss India, I got few offers and really enjoyed the experience and the response was also wonderful. I want to experiment and do different things and that has got me here now.”

And what about Bollywood dreams? “Of course, like every actor, I also want to enter Bollywood and really feel that TV is a step closer towards the goal. TV today has become a strong medium and I feel once you have a set audience, you have a stronger stand. All filmmakers would prefer relatively known faces than a stark new comer.”

Talking about her character, Asmita said, “Meher is a girl who although comes from a small town, has big dreams for her and her family. She is strong, independent and has worked hard to reach a great heights. But how that has left her without love will be interesting to see. In fact, I can relate a lot to the character.”

When we asked her if she was ready for the taxing work schedules of TV, she replied, “The three months that I have been part of the show have been wonderful. I am enjoying my stint and with such wonderful co-stars, I don’t even realise how time flies. But yes, I am prepared.”

We also asked the actor if she gave any inputs while performing.“I rely on my directors, but having played the character for a while, I do discuss my inputs with him. We are all working towards making this show a success, and we work as a team to achieve it.”

That’s the way to go, Asmita!
