My job is to make a ‘small’ character bigger with my performance: Dev Kapoor

He is cute, good looking and talented. Meet Punjabi munda Dev Kapoor, the chirpy Zubin of Star Plus’ Manmarziyan (Swastik Productions).

The actor, who was upset about not bagging Sanju’s character in Shakalaka Boom Boom, has come a long way from a 109-kg plump teen to a fit and sexy young man.

Talking about his journey, Dev shared, “I think once you get such a setback, you promise to work harder. That is how it all began. I was working with a startup company after my college, when the love for acting hit me again and I started auditioning. I used to travel from South Mumbai to Mulund for office and then come to Andheri to meet people and then get back home. The hard work and determination paid off and I started getting episodics. Things changed for the better when I got a call from Swastik for the show.”

With him playing a character role in the show, we wondered he’s about being lost in a huge cast. “You do feel bad as every actor wants to be projected in a broader light. But this being my first major project,

I am open to trial and error and will take this as my stepping stone. I think Manmarziyan is the best acting school that I could have ever gotten into. And yes, now my only job is to make the ‘small’ character bigger with my performance,” he said.

Dev believes in being grounded and respecting his colleagues. “I think one should understand that experience in terms of work doesn’t really matter. Your genuineness will take you places. Also, one needs to be charming and connect with the audience. We actors should stay grounded. And the most important thing is dedication; To give more than your 100 per cent to your project,” added Dev.

Talking about his future plans, the actor said, “I am eagerly waiting for my character to shape up in the coming days. Although I don’t get much time to watch TV, I love working for TV. I really hope that I get more and more interesting and exciting roles where I can explore my acting capabilities.”

Good luck, Dev!
