Dil Se Di Dua Saubhagyavati Bhava 5th September 2012 Written Update by BizzyLizzy

Recap: Viraaj protests against being sent to jail, but is finally sent there. He throws a few tantrums only to have the lady cop shut him up. Sia files an FIR at that station, has an emotional meeting with her family as well. Gayathri is upset over the fact that Raghav and Sia have lied to her, and decide that they should leave the house. When everyone pitches in to persuade her not to send Raghav and Sia away, Gayathri brings up Raghav’s responsibility for Dev’s death. As Raghav is about to be dragged out, Krish screams out for Raghav, and then, with great difficulty, confesses that it wasn’t Chacha who was bad, but Papa.

Part I

Police bring in a struggling and defiant Viraaj to the lawyer, to whom he asks when he will be out. The lawyer doesn’t mince words — he tells Viraaj that there are a lot of charges against him, the most serious being Domestic Violence. It’s a difficult case to build as it stands, and if the judge is a woman he could get upto 10 years, bail will be close to impossible and the case might reach the Supreme Court(Somehow they’ve cut that part of the scene out on the Star Player version I was watching for a memory rehash… in fact a number of scenes were cut from the Star Player version!). Viraaj tells the lawyer that he didn’t call him here to get his knowledge or insight; just that he is sick and tired of staying in this jail and wants to get out. In the last few lines, he raises his voice to the lawyer, and a nearby policeman calls out to chide him. The lawyer motions to the policeman that he has everything under control and then tells him there is a way out of this problem: an insanity plea. There has been mentions of this from the prosecutors as well, so proving him unstable shouldn’t be hard, and he would be in the mental hospital rather than in jail. In anger, Viraaj attacks the lawyer, screaming that he called him mad. The lady cop stops this in time and tells him to start learning the rules within prison, otherwise every single day will be hell for him. The shaken lawyer responds that he stands by this plan and if Viraaj really wants to come out of jail, he should think over it, otherwise search for another lawyer. Viraaj screams that he wants to get out.

Gayathri is sitting with Krish, trying to coax him into explaining what he was trying to say. Raghav tries to say that it’s nothing, but Gayathri interrupts him. Krish repeats — his uncle was not the bad one, his father was. A shocked Gayathri tries to make sense of this statement. She looks at a visibly tense Komal and asks her why Krish would say such a thing. As Komal tries to talk, Raghav interrupts again and tells Gayathri that Krish was possibly wanting say something and saying something else, and then tells Krish not to say such things about his father. Krish now turns to his mother, asking her to tell Gayathri about Dev. Gayathri tells Komal to look her in the eyes and tell her the truth, as she can clearly see from Komal’s face that she has been hiding something. Now weeping in earnest, Komal turns away, and Raghav looks on, grieving. Gayathri asks Komal what memory is bothering her, that she hasn’t shared with Gayathri. Raghav says that Komal wouldn’t keep anything a secret from her, and that nothing had happened. He then turns to leave, at which point Komal reveals that Raghav was never responsible for Dev’s death — Dev himself was. As everyone looks on shocked, Komal tells Gayathri that Raghav had, in fact, tried very hard to save Dev. Raghav still tries to stop Komal, by taking the blame again, but this time Komal interrupts and tells him that she can’t quiet anymore, that all these years Raghav had been shouldering blame for something he’d never done. She tells Raghav that she cannot keep lying about Dev’s death anymore and that it’s time to let the truth out.

Komal now turns to Gayathri and tells her that Dev was a wonderful father and great human being, but was…addicted to gambling. This habit of gambling had become a necessity, and when Komal caught him she tried to change this but Dev was too into it by then to want to change. We then see a flashback where Dev is shown withdrawing a substantial amount of money from Gayathri’s account, and when a man tells him that it’s a lot of money and he isn’t sure how to explain this to Gayathri, Dev tells him to claim that he is taking this money on a business venture. A shocked Komal, who has been overhearing, questions Dev about his gambling addiction. Dev denies this and tells her to treat it as a business investment which will double and make profits for them. He pleads with Komal to let him do this.

Komal narrates that from here it went downhill, and we see a flashback of a sleeping Komal awakened by Dev’s voice while on the phone, promising to return money to someone, without informing his mother. Komal asks him why he is doing this when he claimed he had left gambling. Dev tells her that he’s trying to clear a debt, and to trust him. Smiling, she tells him that she does, and both hug.

Komal tells Gayathri that Raghav actually tried to keep the loan sharks away from Dev. Dev had promised not to gamble anymore, even with a debt over his head, but it seemed as if he never wanted to leave it after all, and did it in secret. But this time, he was gambling with dangerous people who were baying for his blood. Komal then recalls the day Dev died: a day when Komal, Raghav, little Krish and Dev were driving somewhere together. A few thugs emerge from a four-wheeler and start attacking the family. They start grabbing Krish as well, and Raghav stalls this by taking him away from them. Dev on his part tries to convince the thugs that the money will be returned but they threaten instead to kidnap Krish. Raghav saves Krish, but Dev is shot, and dies (A hand with a weird ring is seen at this point inside the four-wheeler, and some of us on the forum suspect it might be Viraaj’s father).

Komal explains to Gayathri that Krish was deeply affected by Dev’s death. Gayathri falls to the sofa, in shock, and Komal then tells her that this was the reason Krish became mute. Komal tells her that what Gayathri believed was an assumption, not the truth. Gayathri is clearly shattered at this point, and Raghav leaves the room. Sia sees this in tears.

Komal weeps, telling Gayathri that to make sure that Dev’s image wasn’t ruined in Gayathri’s eyes, Raghav let her believe that it was one of his enemies who had killed Dev instead. Raghav didn’t want Gayathri’s love for Dev to die with his death. She cries on Gayathri’s lap stating that Raghav was innocent. Gayathri caresses Komal’s head, and Krish hugs her.

Sia finds Raghav crying silently at the porch and tells her that he is at fault, because Dev always cared for him and looked after him, and he was able to do nothing as he died. He laments that on that day he couldn’t save Dev’s life, and now he hasn’t even been able to save Dev’s good image in Gayathri’s eyes. He says he had never been Gayathri’s good son, and even in this duty he had failed. Sia tells him not to blame himself, and that he had done his best to save his brother’s life and respect, and wherever he is Dev would be thankful to Raghav. Sia explains to him that even though hearing Raghav’s past was painful, she is proud of him. Raghav asks her how he could possibly not blame himself: his trying never achieved anything, he was never able to make anyone in his family happy, always caused pain. Raghav breaks down eventually, asking Sia why it always has to be him. Sia looks on, crying herself.

Komal and Tashu are in the hall, talking. Komal confesses to Tashu that a burden has been lifted from her, but she will always feel the pain for the many years Raghav suffered alone. Had she told Gayathri earlier, that would have never have happened. Tashu tells Komal that she is even more worried about Gayathri’s state of mind in the present, given that she hasn’t left her room or spoken to anyone since Komal’s revelation. Komal tells Tashu that to understand a mother’s pain, or to comfort her during that phase, is an extremely difficult thing to do, and Komal is confused as to how to talk to her. In the background Sia overhears this (back to your old evesdropping-matchmaking ways, eh, Sia? )

Part II

The scene opens to Gayathri weeping alone in her room. Sia enters the room, all geared up to talk to her, but feels pained when she hears soft whimpers and sobs from Gayathri. Feeling terrible and unable to comfort her, Sia turns away. At this juncture, Gayathri asks Sia if she, too, feels that Gayathri had failed in her role as a mother. Shocked, Sia tells Gayathri that she doesn’t think so. Gayathri tells her that she is only saying what she feels now. She had always been finding fault in others and pointing out mistakes, but wasn’t able to see where she went wrong in the process. She has always judged Raghav for apparantly failing as a son but the truth was that she isn’t even worth being called his mother because she never tried to understand the difficulties he was facing. She feels there have been flaws in her parenting, for Dev to have taken to gambling (For the love of God, Dev wasn’t a doodh ka dhula hua bachcha and no amt of positive parenting would make him Gayathri’s clone. Gayathri’s expectations of good parenting are so high, she might as well have said ‘I’m going to be a bad parent’ the day she was born!) and for everyone to keep Viraaj’s tactics a secret from her. Gayathri tells her that it must have been that everyone, including Sia, thought she wouldn’t understand regarding what Viraaj was doing in the house. Gayathri confesses that she has always fought for truth, but somewhere down the line had forgotten that she is a mother first, and powerful industrialist Gayathri Singh after. This was probably why Dev never sought her advice, and why Raghav is starting to move away from her.

Sia tells Gayathri that she is wrong; that she is a wonderful mother, it is clear in the love and respect her children have for her, and it was also why Dev kept his gambling a secret — because he feared losing that love and respect that his mother had for him. It was also the reason why Raghav didn’t let her know the truth, because she wouldn’t probably be hurt by the same people as well. The same reason forced them to keep Viraaj a secret, so that her life would be safe from Viraaj’s clutches. Sia tells her that a mother can never be a bad person…the one to whom God has given the right to give birth; no one has the right to call her wrong, or a bad person (Blanket statement, Sia! Blanket statement!). Even Gayathri doesn’t have the right to call herself a bad mother. Gayathri shakes her head, and looks up only to see Komal, Tashu, Raghav and Krish standing at the door of her room.

Part III

Sia moves from Gayathri, and the family members sit around her. Gayathri asks them for forgiveness. Komal tells her not to say such a thing. Raghav tells her that she is the elder one, they’re younger and they’re the ones more prone to making mistakes, and she is the one more prone to forgiving — she shouldn’t be the one apologizing. Gayathri tells Raghav that even though she is the elder one, it was Raghav who had proved his maturity. She had always judged him for not being the paragon she thought Dev was, but now she tells him that she would rather love him as he is, and that he should never change — she needs to do that instead.

She then gives the family a promise: that she will trust them twice as much as she had loved them before. Everyone cries happy tears and has a group hug together , barring Sia (who is at the door), and Krish (who I think is in a mood to oil those rusty vocal cords already ). Krish stands up and says, in a bit of a lisp, that he wants his grandma to trust him too (aww, bless!). Everyone laughs and engulfs him in a group hug too, with Sia watching on.

Precap: Sia very hurriedly trying to tell Raghav that she wants to leave and that he had once promised her that once all her troubles were gone she was free to go and he wouldn’t stop her…and then sees Raghav’s oddly calm face and stops talking.
