Paige , I also have a quote for Raghav and Kalpi :

Let’s hope that their time apart has made their love stronger . ..

Hi Nirvana, indeed “what God has put together let no man put asunder” Well said! So a marriage cannot last if God has not blessed it. And i have seen so many of that in real life. Countless in fact.

With respect to the marriage being established by 3 things, I was told to consider a stool. A stool cannot stand on 1 or 2 legs. It must have 3. (I know some may try to bring in a stool with one fat leg), but really, the thickness of the leg compensates for the 3 thinner legs on a 3-leg stool. I would fall off a stool with 1 leg that is thin. It will break under certain weights. But will hold up, with 3 legs that proportionately and equally share the weight.

Hey Good morning Pheonix. Thank you. I like the guys at desitvbox. They are nice.

Pheonix, all of last night I thought about what you said about Raghav and Kalpi and this morning I saw others endorse your comments and add to it. Very nice. I couldn’t get it out of my head. So I retracted my answer of Kamla being the obstacle. She is “the biggest obstacle” in terms of something physical to the love, but really and truly, Raghav and Kalpi are their own obstacles in that they CAN overcome Kamla and the others. But they need to be determine to do that and be confident. As Nirvana (formerly Anonymous) said true love conquers all difficulties. Last night I thought so long and hard over what you said. And I remember a personal situation where people interfered and said things and make someone promised (like Kamla) not to pursue someone. Yes, there were obstacles but the person was not bold or strong or confident enough to stand up to such pressure and gave in. And ruin the happiness of someone and himself. Yes, I remember it was said that HE could have taken a stand and this matter would have gone in a different direction and the outcome much better. But he was too weak and didn’t. And it caused much pain. Indeed, the solution to the problem lies in the Raghav and Kalpi themselves. Not in Kamla. She is out to separate them. They have to be determined to overcome her. And I hope they do.

I agree Paige . .. Love is really hard to compromise with , and while I understand that Kalpi is an obedient girl , she’s also an adult , and while she can consider the views of her mother , final decisions are with her .
Someone once told me that i would know true love when the heart and mind agrees .
Kalpi is a smart girl , but her brain keeps her heart in check to a large extent . She is yet to find balance . If she thinks about Raghav’s mistake , while also factoring her love , she’ll understand his dilemma , and her heart and mind will allow her to forgive him . ..
However , Kalpi’s brain is dominating at present , so she agreed with her mother ( it’s the easy thing to do ) because it’s too difficult to hope , to dream again that Raghav could rectify his mistakes and make her broken heart whole . . The brain is telling the heart to take a backseat , while it speaks . ..

Paige Suni, nirvana, all, I’ve read so much, want to respond but will just respond to the marriage aspect Paige had brought up, well just yet, will reply later on.

Yes Paige that is exactly what I was getting at in previous comments, just signing a paper does not constitute a marriage. It may be legal according to the law, but does not morally or physically constitute the sacred marriage sealed with all that you mentioned.
A marriage, if not consummated within one year, or is it six months, can’t remember now, it is legal grounds for an annulment.
So we cannot say a marriage is a marriage however it was done and they’ve got to stick with it. It is morally wrong.

      May 27, 07:56

And I think we will all agree that Raghav and Kalpi are their own biggest obstacle, Raghav for letting revenge come in his way of happiness for both him and Kalpi and Kalpi for blindly obeying her mother and not thinking for herself, what is it that is good for her and what she wants. It is she who has to live her life, Kamla cannot live her life for h er.

      May 27, 09:04

Krs…totally agree with you on both the marriage issue and that Raghav and Kalpi are their own, biggest obstacle to their own life and love. Hope they correct it soon.

I think Kamla main reason for Keeping Kalpi and Ragav apart is not out of concern for kalpi and her happiness. because if she thaught that Ragav is so bad why is she encouraging Pakie to try and win his love. her only concern is Pakie and she dont want to see her getting hurt. And I started to like Pakie a little bc I thaught she was different from the other Kapoors, but her only reason for standing being ms goodie was to be close to Kamla. she know Ragav dont love her. and yet still she is trying to hold on to him, not thinking about Kalpie and what she must be going through. its was always Pakie Pakie and Pakie gets what Pakie want. and that have not change. I hope Ragav could put Kamla in her place, and stik to his guns.

I admire the vast understanding and brilliance of Phoenix, Kris and PaigeS.
It is truly interesting to follow your threads with each other.
PaigeS the views of the Hindu Priest is very enlightening.
Do you think same will apply to other religious marriages..
Raghav and Kalpi will finally reunite, that’s commendable of them.
Pakie on the other hand is an innocent victim.
Raghav has destroyed her mentally and emotionally for his selfish reasons.
Girls put yourselves in her shoes, how would you feel ?Should this happen to you.
God forbid, no one deserves this betrayal.
I don’t trust revengeful people like Raghav.

Thank you so much Shri , and thank you for sharing your thoughts also 🙂 . .
Pakhi can either learn or burn from this situation . She’s being I’ll advised by Kamla to pursue a guy who doesn’t love her . I also see Pakhi as a victim and I hope that she too can overcome this situation , and become better after the experience .
      However , Raghav made a mistake , and while it’s a terrible mistake , I don’t see him as having a bad heart .
The mothers here have led their children astray .
Gaurie with Raghav , by telling him to keep revenge and not love in his heart .
Neetu for never being a supportive mother , that Pakhi could turn to ; imagine she forgot her daughter’s birthday 😐 .
Kamla for not advising Kalpi to believe in the man she loves , especially since Kamla knows the entire truth about Raghav .
All three characters need to find their own voices . They need to understand that it is about their lives , their future ; they need to respectfully stand on their own for certain things .

    Hi Everyone.
    I was previously Anonymous 😉

Thank you for your very insightful and informative comments.

On the question Phoenix posed to Paige, yesterday. I immediately thought about it and figured that it is the couple themselves. Raghav for allowing bitterness and anger control his life and Kalpi for letting her mother dictate her life. It is rightly said that we are our own worst enemy. The ability to choose is such a priviledge and we so often make the wrong choices. We tend to blame everything and everyone else when things go wrong and usually claim success as our own. Love, when is strong and well grounded will be able to overcome great difficulties, be understanding, forgiving, protective, etc. On Raghav’s side he is trying to gain his love back but love and revenge can’t share the same space. They are both powerful emotions and one will have to leave for the other to survive. Therefore, Raghav has to annul his marriage to Paakhi to win love back. Kalpi should respect her parents but also male her own choices on things that pertain to her love. If she really loves Raghav she will listen to her heart for the heart accepts love warts and all.

Paige, your information of marriage is excellent. “What God as put together let no man put assunder”, true love surely is the hand of God at work. True marriage is not about coercing the other to love you, its not about ego trips or wealth or please society. Marriage is the union of two souls, its about unconditional love , compromises and mutual respect.

As for Raghav and Kalpi getting married. It could be someones dream (Raghav, Kalpi or even Sammy) or it could be someone’s nightmare (Paakhi or Kamla). I hope its true though and also hope that Raghav goes about it the right.

Hello there Nirvana (formerly Anonymous)…it certainly is a pleasure to meet you. I always enjoy reading your very insightful comments. I reallly do. Love the way you analyse things. And I agree whole-heartedly with you on the couple being their own enemy. Quite true, we tend to blame others and not see ourselves at fault. For that reason, I retract my answer to Pheonix’s question about the obstacle. I will let it be that Kamla is the biggest hurdle (to be overcome) to Raghav’s and Kalpi’s love but really and truly, couple must overcome that hurdle and that is up to them. They can choose to overcome and conquer or let the hurdle affect their lives and love.

As Nirvana says, true love conquers all difficulties.

Good Evening / Night / Morning EMA fans !!

Paige dear , sorry for the late response . While I totally agree with your brilliant reasons for Kamla being the major obstacle against Raghav and Kalpi’s love , I see it a little different in that I thought that both Raghav and Kalpi are responsible for their own destiny . True love cannot be tamed the way Kalpi was trying to tame it , she remained calm and impassioned to a large extent .
She listened to her mother’s nonsense about never speaking to Raghav again . . . Raghav wasn’t putting Kalpi first until now , thank goodness he’s finally decided to try to set things right by leaving Pakhi . . .. why did he wait so long ??
These two are their own worst enemies in a way , because they lack confidence in what they have . They were too easily shaken , and the bond of love is supposed to be a very strong cohesion . ..
I’m hoping that Raghav has learnt his lessons well . . that his absence from Kalpi and his contemplation of a future without her , will prevent any further mistakes from his side . I also hope that Kalpi finds her voice . I understand that years of subjugation led to her inability to express herself assertively , but love should embolden her heart and her tongue . . Love has a myopic view of the world that excludes anyone from standing in its way . ..
While Raghav and Kalpi have expressed their love for each other , it’s now time to prove it to the world . ..

    • Paige S
      May 26, 22:17

Well said Phoenix. I see the way you put it over and I agree with you whole heartedly. You are right when you said that both Raghav and Kapli are responsible. Both ought to know what they wanted, how they see the other and responded accordingly. I really like what you said there, Phoenix. It was very astute and very, very factual.

    • Paige S
      May 26, 22:25

You know something, I reread what you wrote above and pondered upon it again. You are so, so right. Absolutely right. The more I think about it, the more it is so obvious. These two are responsible. They are responsible for their love and both handled it badly. You know, what you just said etched itself deeply within me. You didn’t just make a comment on Raghav and kalpi in EMA, but made a brilliant observation that made my mind think how applicable this ( what you just said) applies to so many situations in real life. That would really help me in my decision making when confronted with situations. Thanks a lot Phoenix. You just opened my eyes to a life lesson. Very applicable to real life. You had me pondering deeply there.

    • Paige S
      May 26, 22:29

You really need to reach these writers and explain these things to them. It would help them strengthen their script. I am just blown away by your observation. My gosh…you are so, so correct. And I’m still thinking about what you wrote; playing back everything from the different episodes in my mind.

    • ℘ɧơɛŋıҳ
      May 26, 22:34

Thank you very much for understanding my views Paige 🙂 . . .
Kamla , Neetu , Pakihi and all others are just obstacles that true love can and should conquer . .
I’m going to hope with you , and the other fans , that Raghav and Kalpi can form a united front . . I really long to see a power couple who can trust each other blindly , wholeheartedly , fervently I hope the rumours of the marriage come to reality and that Raghav gains a quietness of soul from Kalpi and that Kalpi gains some of Raghav’s dynamism . .
For me that’s what love is about , one person making the other better , not by changing the other person in any way , but by quietly accepting , by standing with each other , and allowing for there to be that exchange of energy that empowers the other person to face any difficulty by being each other’s strength . ..

    • Pḣöєиịẍ
      May 26, 22:42

Thanks Paige and you always make me think also 🙂 , your understanding of the show is tremendous . . If there was a way to reach these Zee people , I would have done so long ago 😀 . .. Zee TV has brought me a world of frustration , but also a lot of happy and memorable moments 🙂 . ..

    • PaigeS
      May 26, 23:33

Agree with what you say there Pheonix. It would be good to see a power couple, each complementing the other and using their personality to make the other stronger and better, rather than change that person to be like him/her.
Gosh…I so wished Zee and the writers of EMA could read this post of yours. You just gave a brilliant idea that could enhance this script and take the story to a higher level, and with some real surprise twists. Imagine Raghav and kalpi– a power couple. Gosh, that would be so awesome! I hope EMA people are reading these posts and taking notes. It would help them in developing their story.

Can I ask a question about Kamla’s sense of reasoning? I wasn’t pleased that she told Kalpi that Raghav cheated her before and he will (notice she said “will”) deceive her again. Ok. Let’s accept Kamla’s ideology “Once a deceiver, always a deceiver”.

And let us apply it to the Kapoors: they murdered, stole, tortured, ruined families, etc, etc. Therefore, since you murdered before, WILL murder again. Since you stole before, you will steal again. Since you tortured before, you will torture again. Isn’t it right to conclude this by Kamla’s principles?

So how come she isn’t fearing murderers who will murder again? Torturers who will torture again. Thieves who will steal again? She is harbouring criminals who will commit crimes again.

Again: I do not understand her.

Again: all this confusion within her is really to ensure Paaki is always happy, even if she has to look stupid to make that happen. WOW!

  9. Paige S
    May 26, 20:45 Reply

    Hi Kris,

Since Raghav’s wedding to Paaki created such a debate on what is moral and what it not, I decided to check out the position of the religious leaders. I live by convictions that morality is decided by God, not man. So I asked the question of the religious leader: at what point can two people be said to be in a marriage: it is at the mere signing of papers? Is it merely rituals pertaining to one’s religion? The answer was brilliant and even I will apply to myself.

The answer was: there is no one thing that constitutes a marriage. The leader said that a real marriage ought to have 3 parts to it: (1) it must be witnessed by the community or people (that’s a public display/indication that you chose a particular person to spend your life with, and the community or group witnesses that); (2) it must be done legally (3) and it must be blessed by God, that is the ritual part is necessary for the sake of getting God’s blessing.

Moreover, a marital relation is only form when elements such as love, trust, understanding and a wilful intention about forming a relationship with another person are present. That is why something like infidelity would break a marriage. Notice, infidelity does not break the legal paper you signed. But rather infidelity breaks a marriage on the grounds that the elements that truly make a marriage a marriage were broken, violated or trespassed upon, such as love, faith, trust. In other words, real marriages are built on sacred grounds of love, trust, faith and so forth. And violating that sacred ground of love, faith and trust, etc would permit a divorce. Do you see where I’m coming from? If infidelity can break the elements of marriage which we establish to be truly things like the emotions, vows before God, etc, then a legal paper (though important) does not truly constitute a real marriage. And this is where marriages of convenience, for example, are NOT real marriages but are shams despite the presence of a legal document. I mean think about it: a part from a signature, what else can be used by a person to establish that a marriage is really real? That is why immigration and embassies investigate marriages and despite the presence of a legal document they are not obligated to grant immigration status or visas to persons. That marriage must be proven real with more than a signature.

History would show that legal papers came into being as a form of protection rather than a symbolism of love and the other elements that constitute a true relationship or marriage. It was found that a man would promise a girl to marry her, and then he won’t especially after getting the gifts from the girl’s family, to marry her. This happened in many, many cultures, not just Indian. So to protect the girl and ensure the marriage was sealed, a legal paper was necessary. Like a contract. But then that legal paper can be breached by many other factors unrelated to mere signatures. Moreover, a real marriage is also a physical one. That is why failure to consummate a marriage is grounds for divorce.

So in Raghav’s case, there was nothing physical, there was no public witness (recall Raghav telling her he doesn’t want any ritual or anything, just signing a paper), no blessing from God, no love, no relationship, no anything! That is NOT a real marriage. So morally that marriage can be annulled. Raghav can be rebuked for taking marriage to be a “play thing” as they say, but really and truly, he never had a real marriage. And it can be annulled for reasons specified herein.

Sadly, many in society do not understand what constitutes a real marriage which explains why today many “so-called marriages” are failing. Real marriages don’t fail. They endure and they last, no matter the storms.

    • Paige S
      May 27, 09:25

With respect to a real marriage being established on 3-grounds, consider a stool, the religious leader told me. A stool cannot stand on 2 legs. It needs 3 legs to stand! A stool will fall if it has 1 or 2 legs. But it stands on 3. Same with a marriage. So true.

You all know something, I have been pondering on this a lot these days,
What if the writers made this Kamla character to act in such a goody two shoes way, but we cannot understand why just yet.
Maybe later on there will come a plot when all her irrational behaviour would make sense and have us saying “ohhh, so that’s why she did this, that’s why she said that” I am still hoping to see Kamla character be understood sometime along the show.

Wishful thinkin on my part I know, but hey with these writers and surprises at every turn, one may never know what to expect next.

    • Paige S
      May 26, 21:06

I understand where you are coming from, and perhaps there could be a point of explanation. But then, the double standards and contradictions make it difficult to explain her. No man with true convictions and moral princples apply them so partially and discriminately. I would be interested in the writers’s explanation.

My take on Kamla’s character is this:
      (1) Either the writers themsevles lack the depth of understanding of what truly makes a person a moral person. And because they lack that level of understanding, and think that simply doing good makes a person a moral person, they ended up presenting Kamla poorly. And maybe because they didn’t think this through enough, the double standards and contradictions are popping up in the character. And perhaps now they might be seeing just how contradictory the character is with all the discussions going on. Like I said, no moral person has such blatant and so many contradictions and double-standards.

(2)Or, they do have an idea of how they intend to portray Kamla and why. In this case, I would be curious about their reason and thinking. But for what it is worth, if they do have a fairly good idea of how they are portrying her, then making her this “super saint” or MOther India as they call her, is unfitting. Because in the end, it would be revealed that the character did what she did for a specific reason and ulterior motives (or pursuing some hidden agenda) can hardly be considered as moral.

Personally, I think the writers think that doing good without stopping to think, makes Kamla Mother India. But they might be learning a thing or two about morality from viewers. As I said, don’t ever take lessons on morality from Hollywood or Bollywood. Wrong places.Wrong people. Didn’t Kalpi think the same way in February when she asked Raghav to stop the car in the dead of the night to help two “stranded persons” with motorbike troubles? That would be so nice, helping such people, right? But Raghav chided her for that. But she was adamant and lectured Raghav about doing good and what happened? They were robbed! That is not morality on the part of Kalpi. It was displaying a lack of wisdom and discernment to know what is good and bad and when to be good and render help. Raghav lost his possessions as a result and Kalpi was hurt in the process and then they were stranded.

      Kamla is such a person.

You know something Paige, when parents don’t give their children love and attention they tend to look for it, and most times find in in someone who profess to love and care for them.
In Kalpi’s case, she was lucky to find Raghav and not no low life who wanted to use her and dump her. Even though Kamla want to make it seem that way.
Kalpi is a very obedient and well brought up girl, she did not go into this relationship blindly, remember how long it took her to accept Raghav. I am sure she weight the pros and cons.
And further, before getting in deeper and deeper without her parents permission she insisted that Raghav go and inform her parents. She did not want to hide and have a relationship with Raghav like most girls would have done,
She did not know how to tell her parents so she asked Raghav to do so. And stupid Kamla thought he was talking about Paaki.

True Kris. So true. I too was thinking the same. It is Kalpi’s blessing that Raghav, a rich man, is not a player. He truly loves her. I think that was one the reasons why viewers love this pair so much.

And the beat goes on!!!!! Writer is very adamant with his mindset, and persists in spewing his vile, evil, demoralizing and shameless attitude at his viewers thru his beloved characters.

What is kamla, the focus of his attention, but a deceitful, two timing, double-crossing and repulsive thing aspiring to be a mother. High hopes kamla, u have failed miserably. Your character stinks with each passing moment.

Does anyone feel like crushing her fat face when she is on her tirades???????????

Making your child a sacrificial lamb for your own selfish gains is ….Kamla, deplorable.

You are an abomination to humanity and doubly so to mothers and It would lend some measure of pride and dignity to Indian women if the written would introduce some semblance of sanity in this pathetic character of Kamla…………the mother who reeks of dementia and needs psychiatric attention.

Hi Sonia, no probs dear, enjoy the show.

Paige did you notice how Kalpi looked at Kamla with eyes wide open when she was making her promise, OMG, what must have been going on in that poor childs mind. on the one hand Neetu told her that her own mother is thinking of someone else’s child’s happiness,
Kalpi is such an obedient child just like her father, who wants to do what will make Kamla happy no matter how hurt they are.
Did you all notice that Neetu did not think twice of rubbing salt in Kalpi’s wounds, and Kamla on the other hand is trying her best to make sure Neetu’s daughter is not hurt and lives happily with the one “SHE LOVES”
Kamla has double standards to the highest.
How d hell does she know Raghav will hurt Kalpi again, why did she not advise Paki to get out of the marriage because Raghav is out to hurt her over and over again.
So it is ok for Kamla to embrace snakes and say they don’t bite, yea right, but advise her daughter not to trust the dog that bit her unwillingly and is repentant of it, well so to speak, Raghav ain’t no dog but if he is he is loyal like one indeed and will never hurt Kalpi again.
He did not betray her and ran away and left Kalpi wondering, he had the guts to come explain to Kalpi why he did what he did when he did. All the boy wanted was a little bit of understanding, not being shot down as a betrayer by of all people Kamla. she can’t differentiate between good and bad, and she feel she so smart and want to advise everybody;.
Well I see her speech off to Raghav did not go to waste after all, it set him thinking and everyone deserves a second chance.
Just as Kamla give the Kapoors a chance, why can’t she extend the same to Raghav.
She damn unfair, but not because she wants to be unfair for unfair sake, she just have to make excuse to Kalpi so that Kalpi and Raghav don’t make up and Raghav leaves Paaki.
But little does she know the effect she has had on Raghav with her twisted speech, will make him divorce Paaki and of course leave him free to marry Kalpi.
    That can never be immoral.
The Kapoors are the immoral one here and Kamla is supporting them.
See Neetu and Sahil will not thing twice of spitting on Kamla and her family once they are in a better position once again.
Let me hear Kamla calling mem saab mem saab and Neetu insults her. She would just meekly walk away and say thank yu mem saab.
Also, Paaki need to get a clue, she can’t be that dumb, the man wants you to stay away from him, but you pushing yourself on him and then wailing down the place, gosh man.
Oh, Sammy looked so happy and runs off to give the message,
I hope Kamla the meddling busy body turned eavesdropper don’t wreck things.

Well said Kris. Totally support all of these views stated herein. Yes, I too observed Kalpi’s facial expression and it told a different story and even when they hugged Kalpi’s face was different. I am beginning to think that maybe Kalpi is beginning to understand the difference between Raghav and Kamla. Raghav loves her like crazy, gives her all the attention in the world and wants her to be happy. He will do anything for her. A man of his standing can stoop to such levels to show her how much he loves her and what he is willing to do to win her. Whereas, her own mother never paid her such attention and gave her such love but instead gives it to someone else. Oh, I hope Kalpi gets her senses and see this!

And yes, all of this is not for Kalpis healing and happiness, all of this for Paaki’s happiness. I want Raghav, after marrying Kalpi, say in front of Kamla and Paaki, “Kamla ma, your speech about ruining 3 lives had me thinking and I thought you were right. Why make Paaki suffer? So I freed her from all of this. Thank you kamla ma for helping me sort myself out and for putting a stop to this. ” Haha.. can you imagine what Paaki would think? Kamla ma instigated Raghav? Oh my! Today, I loathe Kamla more. Believe me Kris, I know what any parent would do in situation like this for their hurt daughter, but in Kamla’s case, it is evident that she is not a typical parent. Most of Kamla’s actions are directed to Paaki’s happiness and not her own daughter. That is why I am against her. As a fan, I am fighting for Kalpi’s happiness since her mother won’t. And about this morality about Raghav divorcing Paaki—I have researched on it. And Yes, Raghav’s action is moral as my next comment will show.

Hi Pheonix, I replied to your question on the biggest obstacle to Raghav and Kalpi’s relationship at present. My answer is below your question on the 23 May write up. I’m sorry about the delay in replying to it. My answer was sent at 11pm last night, some 5 hours-plus late. I was out of internet for a lengthy time. As soon as it was restored. I sent my reply.

Interesting observation there on the revenge Sonia. I wondered too that this revenge will have to a take a new slant. Perhaps Kalpi might surprise everyone and support Raghav in it.
