I have no fear but I am excited to perform in Jhalak – Purab Kohli

The very stunning Purab Kohli has made a place for himself in the acting space and now he is all set to join hands with a league of celebrities battling out for a dance reality show. His array of talent also depicts him anchoring for shows like Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa which gave him a rough idea of how reality shows actually function. Well, he should in that case certainly understand the mindset of a participant. Well, now it’s the model and VJ turned actor’s turn to get comfy as he partakes with his dance partner Mohena Singh in India’s most glamorous and fun filled dance show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa season 7 (Colors).

In Jhalak’s media conference, Mohena talked about her strategy. “As a choreographer I have a huge responsibility to pull up and do well, especially because I have an artist who is so talented and keen on winning. I think Purab is a popular face and therefore I will also have to work harder bringing him to the forefront. I will have to come up with many interesting acts as there are also many other mind blowing contestants. So we will have to give them a tough competition; only then we will be able to reach heights.”

Jhalak will showcase many versatile dancers this season and therefore the competition will keep getting tougher. Purab had this to say when he was asked about his close competitor. “If you throw out all the contestants on the table and if you asked me who the best amongst them is – I would say it is Shakti. She is a trained dancer and has also won many competitions in this country as a whole. She is someone who is up there and that’s where I have to reach in terms of dancing. But since the show is partly judged on the basis of dancing skills and partly because of the love that is given by the audience which results in getting more votes, I think it plays well on the side of non dancers too. There are many boys on this show who I can compete with and I think myself, Karan and Ashish are on the same page. We also have Akshat and Palak who are well appreciated by the audience. I think they are going to be up there on the voting list. Based on internet searches, Shakti’s ratings are higher comparatively. So I think this year Jhalak is going to be quite interesting with all the contestants and their performances.”

Are you ready to take up a challenge or are you a bit shaky? “I have no fear but in fact there’s excitement. I enjoy performing in front of people; however this time it’s not going to be a bunch of people but it’s going to be the whole of India. There was always a fear while shooting and I think I am a bit nervous on the sets of Jhalak too. It’s a complete different experience altogether because if I were to be on the screen, I would have taken a couple of takes but this is going to have a final judgment.”

Well Mohena does seem to have the right amount of patience to turn a non-dancer into a dancer. What is Mohena expecting from Purab? “Of course there is a high level set up but Jhalak has always been the show that has turned a non dancer to a dancer. I am going to make sure that he’s going to work hard; I will slowly mold him into an amazing performer so that he will turn out to be like Michael Jackson one day,” said a diligent and unflagging Mohena.

All the best, Purab and Mohena!!
