I’ve always wanted to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali – Shiny Doshi

The bubbly and gorgeous actress, Shiny Doshi who essays the role of Kusum in Saraswatichandra in a candid conversation with us about her shows, life and much more…

How did you bag the role of Kusum in Saraswatichandra?
Well, I never wished to do a daily soap, because I have done a lot of TV and print ads. So when I got the call from Star Plus and was called for audition and screen test, it was a dream come true for me. I’ve always wanted to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali be it in a movie or TV show. I gave the audition for the role of Kumud which the channel had given me the script for, however the production house thought that I was apt for the role of her younger sister Kusum. The character I am playing is very bubbly, sweet, caring, attached to her parents and adorable to her sister.

How has your journey been so far in the industry?
The journey has been good. I am expecting more with every passing day because so far I haven’t done serious acting and daily soaps demand only that. Currently, I am working with a great team be it the direction team, co-actors amongst others. Everyone is very supportive and I learn something new each day. It is very interesting.

How is the real Shiny Doshi?
I am somehow the same as Kusum. I am very bubbly, full of life and very fun loving girl. I guess that is what the production team saw in me when they selected me for Kusum’s role.

If not an actor then what would you have been doing?
If not an actor then I would have been a dentist, because my dad being a doctor always wanted me to do something in the field of science. I am a graduate in science then I opted for National Institute of Fashion Designing, so I am a fashion designer as well, because the creative field is what attracted me. I belong to a family which is a very educated and believes in education but my preferences were something different and I am an artist today.

How is the bonding between you, Jennifer Singh Grover and Vinita Joshi Thakkar on the sets?
The relationship we share is very strong on the sets. Vinita is actually bubblier then I me. Most of the secrets are shared between Kumud and Kusum, because Kusum knows what happens is Kumud’s life, and Kumari doesn’t know much. However, all three of us have an adorable sisterly bond even off screen.

Your favourite food?
I am a very big foodie. I jump and fight to eat Pizza everyday. I am fond of eating junk food and I can experiment with almost all kinds of cuisines.

Your favourite holiday destination?
That would be Paris, because I find that place to be very romantic. Sooner or later I will go there.

Your favourite actor?
Amitabh Bachchan has been my favourite and at the moment I like Kareena Kapoor too. It is incredible how she leads her life.

What is your relationship status?
I am very much committed, but I don’t want to mention that, because I really don’t want people to be more interested and hound me over it. But yes, I am committed.

In a very short time you have garnered a lot of fans, what do you have to say to this?
I would definitely try and fulfill their expectations about Kusum. Every actor or actress dreams to have a good fan following. So yes, it is a great feeling but I would really work hard to prove myself and my talent.
