Sapno Se Bhare Naina 31st August 2011 Written Update

The story as it is turning out now on our tv screen, is an attraction of two hearts in love, and being kept apart by the scheming mind of one, the gullible one of another, the timid heart of the boy, and the unexpected events which come at the least opportune time.

On the terrace, where Naina and Daksh have been having a heart to heart talk, and happy they are interrupted by the visit of Vibha and Sonakshi. Vibha is not pleased at all that her son, is alone with the paying guest, whom she has been under the impression, that her advice will be heeded by her, but she does not apply her mind to go deeper into the situation, and judges from the stand point of where she wants things to be. When, Daksh starts telling that he has something to tell his mother, about himself and Naina, Sonakshi’s scheming mind alerts her and she lets a scream of sudden pain, which jolts the unsuspecting Vibha, who with her clouded reasoning, tells her son to go and bring the ice pack, and the timid son, with his head bent down, leaves his heart throb, and goes to fetch the ice. As soon as he is out of her vision, Sonakshi is again walking away, without the slightest sign of pain, but the gullible Vibha does not notice it, but she goes to Naina, as she has set her heart on Sonakshi, and does not want any untoward incident to spoil her dreams of a wedding in her family. She goes to Naina and again remonstrates to her, and reminds her of the promise she has made to her, in spite of her knowing that there is nothing going on between her son and her. Naina, in her subdued grief, just looks into the eyes of Vibha, who does not see anything else, but what she wants to see. After exhorting her paying guest, she walks away with her future daughter in law, and Naina goes to her bed, with a heavy heart.

Sonakshi tries her stunts, of getting Daksh over to her side, but he bluntly tells her that this can not go on, and the situation has to be brought to the notice of her parents.

As a new day dawns, Sanket and Rohini are already in the hall, and getting ready for the breakfast. They are joined by Akruti. Daksh goes to see Naina, and tries to explain the situation but she tells that it is imperative that he tells his parents, as his mother is angry with her. As they walk down the stairs, Sonakshi limps down, and in a loud voice wishes them “Good Morning”, but it has no effect on Daksh, and they let her walk down and came down after her. When some one asks where the rest of the family is, Akruti tells that the uncle and aunt have gone to the temple, and would be coming soon. Rohini is in high spirits, and is waiting anxiously for the day, when Sonakshi will be her partner in her games.

We hear the elevated voice of Vibha, in great joy, announcing to them, as she enters the hall, telling them, that she has two good news, and Kaka is anxious to know what it is, as he has had enough of ‘good news’ in his compact life. With great show of deft information management, the news comes in drips and finally gets off loaded on the waiting family. The first one is that they met the parents of Ayush, who met the priest who told them that the auspicious day for marriage is two weeks hence, and they have set the date. They want to know the second news, and then again, by creating an artificial suspense, she moves around and tells that it is the wedding of Sonakshi and Daksh. Daksh is stunned, and when they decide to prepare the guest list, Daksh says, that he has reservations, but before he could say anything, and tell his parents what exactly has been bothering his mind, and he has been trying to tell them again and again, without success, the bell rings and this unforeseen even, comes like a guillotine, down and stops him in his tracks.

Joshi and his wife come in without prior announcement, and the Patwardans are happy, that they too are here to receive the good news. It is given to them, and after some small talk, Vibha wants to offer them refreshments, but Naina, gets up, and says she will do the needful and goes to the kitchen table. Daksh follows her, as Sonakshi looks at him with apprehension.

In the kitchen, Naina with tears in her eyes, attends to getting the tea ready, and Daksh comes and holds her warmly, and they touch their heads in an intimate embrace, and no words are exchanged. Again they are interrupted by the visit of Vibha, who now knows, that it is not Naina, who is after her son, but he is after her. She wants to know from him, what brings him here. He says, to make tea, but she tells him to care for Sonakshi, and again the timid boy, leaves his love, and goes away. Ayee asks Naina to prepare the tea and bring it to the guests.

The family members are all happy but there is no smile on Akruti’s face and neither on the face of Daksh, which no one in this self engrossed family notice. They talk about the necessity to make preparations within a short time, and they are given a rest for their wagging tongues, when Naina brings them tea. So their mouths have some other job to do, and that is to sip tea. Supriya seems to have an awakening of her maternal instincts, and tells Naina to come and sit down next to her. Sonakshi does not like it. Neither does her husband. But Supriya has something which she can not explain, nor will she worry what others will say. She becomes warm towards this girl, who has faced so man problems within her short life. She who is her true mother, tells her that even when tall trees shake in a tempest, they still remain steady, if the roots are strong, and encourages her to keep up her inner strength, which she has exhibited amply, and she has noticed it. Seeing that the mother is more interested in Naina, rather than her own daughter, Vibha encourages her to spend some time with her daugher, and she goes away with the rest of the family to attend to the marriage preparations, and Sanket and Rohini too go away for the same purpose, and finally the Joshi family of three is left to themselves. The father runs down his wife, for neglecting her daughter and paying more attention to the Paying Guest. Supriya does not respond. Sonakshi has something to tell her parents, and that is by their coming unannounced they have disturbed her plans. Eventually, the parents go home as they have business to attend, and leave Sonakshi to complete her ‘plans’.

In the pre-cap: We see Sonakshi walking in the courtyard, and deep in her thoughts and suddenly she hears someone asking her, what she has decided about him. It is Ayush. Obviously, the two have had a plan which has not yet come out, but we have to wait.

In this unfortunate story, we see the loving hearts of Daksh and Naina, are so close to each other, but it is Sonakshi and her scheming mind, which she has fine tuned at such a young age, which is a mystery, as to when and where she developed this trait – which put impediments in the path of the love of Daksh and Naina. Added to this, is the gullible nature of Vibha, though well meaning, is creating obstacles in the path of her son, just because she has not developed a thinking mind, and has always depended on blind faith and sticking to traditions which need to be relevant to changing times. She judges her children, who are being engulfed by modern times, with her outmoded visions, and this can cause tragedy and pain to her own flesh and blood, and the unfortunate thing is her well meaning professor husband too, has given himself to depending on his wife, in matters on the internal management of the house and only in some important matters he may intervene. If only, he too had opened his eyes, and looked into the eyes of his son, he might have noticed, that he too is in love, as he was once, when he proposed to marry Vibha. It should be a recent memory when they enacted their love in the recent Anniversary Skit. The timid nature of Daksh, is not that he is a frightened young man. But his upbringing of showing deference to the elders, makes him do what he does. He has not given himself a balanced view, which he should have had as a trained lawyer, but allows himself to be carried by the current of events. All these unfortunate events, should also remind the elders in the viewers as to their responsibility towards their children, and how they have to be pro-active and share their griefs and joys. The youngsters always face problems, because they do not find elders who are liberal enough to engage them and explain to them about the pitfalls and the ways of getting out of these situations. Hope some good comes out of SSBN.
