Shaitan will try to highlight strange and mysterious crime cases: Sharad Kelkar

Veteran actor Sharad Kelkar current playing a doctor in Kuch Toh Log Kahenge (Sony TV) is all set to anchor a crime based show Shaitan – A Criminal Mind on Colors as well. “What I like about this concept is that it goes beyond just what went wrong, but rather attempts to dig deep into the minds of the criminals. We try to find out the underlying causes of their diabolic actions and whether it could have been prevented. The team has trained psychologists on board who do detailed research on all the concerned cases,” shared Sharad with us.

He also accepted that crime genre (Crime Patrol) is very popular, “Every day we read so many cases of honour killings and other heinous incidents. There is no particular type of crime we chose; it can be anything from robbery, murder or even rape. We try to highlight strange and mysterious cases.”

Here Sharad further added, “We wish to inform our viewers to watch our episodes carefully and pick up pointers and identify possible criminals amongst themselves and society thereby not only saving themselves but also preventing someone else from committing crime. After all we are humans and certain situations force us to do certain wrong things.”

Sharad who had played a Shaitan in the recent Vikram Bhatt produced horror flock 1920 Evil Returns said that playing a evil spirit has really helped him to understand what makes people behave in such evil ways.”

“Had Aftab realized that my character (Amar) was jealous of him and talked to him, may be things could have been different.”

Sharad who has earlier anchored shows such as Rock-N-Roll Family (Zee TV) and Pati Patni Aur Who (Imagine TV) ended by stating, “This is a completely different experience for here I need to understand the situation and then present case before the viewers.”

Shaitan goes on air from 1 December (2012).
