Star Plus to telecast seven hour long live event on 15 August for Uttarakhand relief;……….

The initiative we are about to discuss here is reflective of the fact that the entertainment industry is not only about glitz and glamour, but also compassion, genuine concern and fellow-feeling.

Star Plus, the numero uno GEC, which has been entertaining masses with some of the greatest and popular shows on TV, has always made it a point to throw some strong message to the society through its projects.

We had earlier reported how Star Network and its popular actors joined hands with a NGO, Goonj, to go out of their way to support misery and grief stricken people of the Uttarakhand tragedy.
Now we have got some exclusive news of a grand event that will hit your TV screens soon.

This year on Independence Day (15 August 2013), Star Plus will be telecasting a seven hour marathon live event to raise funds for the people of Uttarakhand. This magnificent event will mark a new phase for Star Plus which has been actively supporting the society and working for its development all along.

If sources are to be believed, Goonj will once again come together with Star Plus to be a part of this initiative.

The popular stars of the channel along with some big names from Bollywood have been roped in to perform at the do. The event will be one of the biggest shows that Indian television has seen in recent times. Since the planning is still at a nascent stage, we are yet to get more info on the same.

But we have learnt that Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan have already given a nod to support the campaign.

The event, what we hear, is being organized by Wizcraft.

When contacted Sabbas Joseph, Director, Wizcraft International Pvt Ltd, he said, “The event is happening but we are at the planning stage, so I can’t really talk much. We will get back with more information later.”
