It’s time to say ‘good bye’ to the cricketing mania as the storm created by the IPL is over!! We are now back to our routine, in which the ‘idiot box soaps and serials’ hold a ‘special’ place in our hearts!!

While the fiction shows have already started creating quite a lot of buzz over the last week with its unexpected twists in the tale and high points, this weekend will see the launch of three ‘biggies’ in terms of reality shows.

It’s time to check out on the ‘brand new avatar’ of Moms as they take to the dancing floors of Zee TV’s new offering DID Super Moms. This reality series termed to be the ‘Mother of all dance shows’ will premier tonight (1 June 2013) and will air every Saturday and Sunday at 9 PM on Zee TV! With yester year’s dancing sensation and today’s grandmaster Mithun Chakraborthy getting back to the helm, there is quite a lot expected from this series. Viewers will get to see the magic created by 16 dancers, who get divided into four teams. Coached by four eminent personalities in Raghav Crockroaxz, Prince Gupta, Siddhesh Pai and Jai Kumar Nair and judged by the popular Farah Khan and Marzi Pestonji, DID Super Moms is all set to floor the audience.

Wait here… as the dance-crazy viewers will crave for more entertainment as the stage is set for an explosive season of dance to start with Colors’ very popular dance reality series Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa season 6. Madhuri Dixit Nene, Karan Johar and Remo D’Souza are back to judge the series which premieres tonight (1 June 2013), to be aired every Saturday and Sunday at 9 PM on Colors.

So what can viewers look forward to in this season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa? A unique comic punch coming from the spontaneous anchor duo Manish Paul and Kapil Sharma will kick-start the series which will go on to have a great flavour in terms of performances, with the variety brought in by the 12 chosen celebrity contestants. Ace singer Shaan, television actor Siddharth Shukla, Bollywood diva Aarti Chhabria, the simple girl of TV Ekta Kaul, super-talented Drashti Dhami, handsome hunk and great entertainer Eijaz Khan, versatile Karanvir Bohra, Hollywood actress Lauren Gottlieb, supremely talented Meghna Malik, the most endearing actress Shweta Tiwari, ‘Comedy Ka King’ Suresh Menon and India’s Got Talent’s Sonali and Sumanth are all set to pack a punch as contestants. Now we have learnt that Kris Srikkanth is also a part of the series.

Want a refreshing change from the ‘dance moves’ to hearing to the ‘innocent notes’ of kids? Don’t you worry, as television will cater to your needs too, kyunki ‘Gaano Ka Wahi Jaadu, Ab Bachon Ki Aawaaz Mein’ aayega with the launch of Sony Entertainment Television’s much-awaited singing reality show, Indian Idol Junior. The series premieres tonight (1 June), every Saturday and Sunday at 8.30 PM. The first season of the series looks promising indeed, with children ranging from the age group of 5 to 15 years, rearing to go. What with the talented music director duo Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravijani (along with Shreya Ghoshal) taking over as judges, and the ravishing Mandira Bedi and ever-classy Karan Wahi handling the mantle of anchoring the show, the stage is set for India to get its best junior singing star.

TV buffs, gear up for the biggest spectacle on TV from tonight!! Enjoy the brilliant music and also the perfect dance moves. As always, let the number game begin.

If we analyse a bit, we would like to state that DID will definitely strike a chord given the fact that it will kindle and cater to the latent desire of thousands of housewives across the globe to hit the stage and excel. And judging from its past seasons, in terms of production value and quality of performances, the show has always managed to get a “thumbs up”.

Coming to Jhalak, over the years we have witnessed that it has caught pace after the initial couple of episodes. Anyways, it has always been one of the prime and dear properties of Colors, other being Bigg Boss, and lot rides on its success. The show is not only about dancing but the entire drama surrounding it like the differences between contestants, the emotions, the injuries…what not. This year would be no different we guess.

Finally, if we talk about Indian Idol Junior, its promos looked amazingly fascinating and in terms of creativity and impact, they have been the best flashed on screens in recent times. But the format has been tried and tested. Singing reality shows are no longer the fancy stuff, but what can really work is the “children factor”. Yes, children with their cute and humble tidbits, is always a win-win scenario for the makers. But yes, Sony needs a show that will gift them good TRPs. They have played safe by picking the timeslot at 8.30PM…which won’t see much of a competition at the reality series space in other channels.

But Jhalak and DID Super Moms go head-to-head at the 9PM slot.

So what is your pick for tonight? Do let us know. And let’s see which property emerges as the ultimate winner in the battle of TRPs when numbers reach inboxes of industry folks coming Thursday.

We will of course, keep our readers updated on everything pertaining to the three shows.

Have a great weekend, and get drenched in the ‘reality’ fever that is on offer. But we love it that IPL fever is gone and soaps and reality shows are back dominating the drawing rooms of TV lovers. Bring it on…
