Diya Aur Baati Hum 22nd June 2012 Written Update

Episode starts with Mohit telling Suraj not to mistake him as his words sound discouraging. He again repeats only 100 people are selected among lakhs of people around the world and only 10 people reach finals where one wins in the end. He opens the website of Marina Bay Sands Hotel and shows it to all of them. Suraj tells Sandy that he does not think he is capable of participating in such a big competition. Sandy asks him how can he say that without even trying. She explains him that it is an opportunity provided to him as among 100s of people who walked over near the Mahatma Gandhi park, only Suraj found that passport bag, they informed Juliana and she came to their house, ate and drank sharbath and sweets prepared by him and she herself said about the competition and gave the details as Juliana thought Suraj had all the qualities needed to participate in that competition but Suraj does not agree with her. She reminds his own words to him that he said that morning that music and food has no language barrier and how Juliana praised his culinary skills and how he understood that she is pleased with the drink that he offered to her but Suraj refuses to participate. He asks Vikram’s opinion and he tells it is the right decision. Mohit says it is better to not participate rather participating and get insulted. Chavvi gives her piece of mind that Suraj is best where he is at and not to do anything else. Meena thinks to herself that the whole family is against Sandy so she will act like supporting Sandhya. Meena says that Sandhya might be right as she knows more about the world, etc. Bhabhasa too encourages Suraj to participate. Sandhya asks Bhabho’s opinion and she shouts out to leave the matter when Suraj himself is not willing to participate and tells everyone to do their work. All leave.

ViNa room. Vikram sleeping on the floor and Meena on the cot. She has a plan. She suddenly calls Vikram saying she is feeling like some evil spirits are there in the room and is fearful. She asks him whether it is true that baby feels the same as pregnant mother feels and if she is fearing, then baby is also fearing. She talks to the baby saying “don’t get afraid, your father is nearby and nothing will happen.” Vikram is in thoughts. He then moves his bedroll near the cot and then sleeps. Meena is happy with this small progress and thinks of succeeding slowly.

SurYa room. Suraj is thinking Sandhya might be upset with his refusal for the cooking contest. Sandhya comes in with water jar. Suraj tries to cheer up her saying a customer had come to the shop who asked the rates of all the sweets and told him to pack just 1 kg of all the variety of sweets mixed and even Chotu was laughing at him. Sandhya cuts his speech saying he does not know to make jalebis of words and tell her the main point. He tells her that she may be upset with his refusal. Sandhya says she was upset but not now. He praises her for being very understanding of him and his problem. She tells him she understood his problem and has a solution to it. Suraj wonders and she says him that his main problem is his fear. She explains him further. She tells him to forget for a minute that he is a halwaii of Pushkar town and he does not know English and just think that he is standing with the kalchi (handle) which is like a magician’s stick which has bound the Pushkar town people with its magic and to dream with open eyes. Suraj wonders dreams are seen in sleep and how can one dream with open eyes. She denies it and tells dreams can be seen with open eyes and can be seen coming true and she herself has seen such dreams. Sandhya tells him to imagine he is making daal baati churma in a TV program and Bhabho and Bhabhasa viewing it, then how happy they would feel and Mohit also would feel happy, Chavvi would feel proud and call her friends to inform to watch her brother on TV. Sandhya is excited and telling him that he has won the competition and Suraj visualizes himself receiving the trophy of World’s Top Cook. Sandhya tells him that Bhabho and Bhabhasa would feel proud with this and Sandhya would feel proud too that she is the wife of Suraj Rathi who has overcome his fears and participated in the contest in a foreign country and won the title. She asks him whether he could feel this dream. Suraj imagines how Mohit, Vikram and Chavvi would be surprised and happy if he wins. Sandhya holds his hand (piyaaa BG). Suraj comes back to his senses. Sandhya asks him how pleasant this open-eyed dream was. Suraj agrees with her and says he has always seen love and happiness in his parents’ eyes and have not seen pride in them and tells her that he will participate in the contest.

Precap: The next day morning, Sandhya tells Suraj “good morning” and he repeats it. She corrects his pronunciation and he says it correct. She appreciates him for learning so soon and he says “thank you.”
