I am proud that I was a part of a movie like Queen! – Alka Kaushal

Alka Kaushal who has received immense love for her character in Qubool Hai speaks about her upcoming show Hamari Sister Didi, experience while working in films and much more.

Seasoned actress Alka Kaushal was extremely loved by her fans for the character of Razia that she played in Zee TV’s Qubool Hai. This pretty actor is yet again back on the small screen, but this with a splash of positivity and realism.

We got in touch with Alka to know about her upcoming show Hamari Sister Didi, movies in her kitty and much more. Read on!

What is your character about?

I am not negative in this show. I think I am fortunate because we generally we get typecast and nobody takes up a total out an out negative character especially which has become extremely famous. But yes I have been very fortunate. The character which I am playing is of a mother-in-law and is very positive. It is a very slice of life, real character and like any other human has a splash of grey shade, I too have it. You cannot call it a negative character but a very realistic one.

As per Sony Pal’s tagline, when was a ‘Ye Pal Mera Hai’ moment in your life?

For me, it is definitely when my daughter was born. That is one moment I can never ever forget.

How was your experience while doing the film Queen?

Ahh! That again I am very proud of that I did a movie like Queen. I was actually quite apprehensive since it was my first film. I was not too sure whether I want to do it or not. Films me pata nahi chalta hai ki aapka character hote hote kitna reh jaye? But my director Vikas Bahl was like if I do this film, one day I will be really glad that I did that movie. He gave me whatever he had promised me.

You have now open your way to films too. So will it only be TV or films or both?

I am doing a film again with Paresh Rawal, Naseeruddin Shah and Anu Kapoor. So I am yet again very fortunate to get to work with such stalwarts. The best part is that my family gives me that kind of support so that I get to work. Also, I am managing it and very well.

Anything that your fans do not know and want to tell them?

I am nothing like what my negative character is (laughs aloud). I am a very lazy person and given an opportunity, I would always want to be at home. Basically, I am a home bird. I would never want to get ready because the entire day I have to be all decked up.
