Televisions’ beautiful actress Ashlesha Savant who is seen as Preeti in Rajshree’s popular show Pyaar Ka Dard Hai…Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara… believes that she completely relates herself with the character she is playing in the show. Ashlesha who was also seen sharing the screen space with Sharad Kelkar and Rajshri Thakur Vaidya in Zee TV’s popular show Saath Phere considers herself lucky to be a part of it as the show is very special to her.

We got in touch with this Ashlesha to know more about her equation with co-star, how did she bag Pyaar Ka Dard… and if she is willing to play a lead role or not.

Here is Ashelsha answering the questions…

How did Pyaar Ka Dard Hai…Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara… show happen to you?

I remember in 2011 in June, I was called for an audition and I was the first person who was finalized for the show. I didn’t have any connection with Rajshree and I randomly got a call for an audition. They then selected me for the role of Preeti, then other cast was finalized and we started shooting in June 2012.

You were applauded for your negative roles in some of your previous shows and in Pyaar Ka Dard Hai…Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara… you are playing a pleasant character, so which role is more challenging and fun to play?

Negative character is quite difficult because people who know me well tell me that you are not made to play negative roles because you are so sweet and a nice person. But it’s really fun to portray negative character as it is more challenging. Right now I am enjoying my pleasant character of Preeti in the show..

Which show is more close to your heart?

Saath Phere show is very close to my heart and will always remain in my heart because this show happened to me at that point of time when I was about to quit my acting career. When I was auditioned and selected for Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. I was in second year B.Com so took a break from my studies and didn’t pursue for T.Y B.Com because I wanted to do Balaji’s most popular show. But later my parents told me to come back to Pune and complete my graduation and I went back. After completing I had no plans to come back because there was no show in my hand. But one fine day I got a call for an audition for the show Saath Phere, I don’t know by whose reference. So I came back to Mumbai and gave audition and got selected. The role which was offered to me was of Tara and was very interesting. While I was shooting I got a chance to meet many veteran actors like Surekha Sikri, Neena Kulkarni and I learnt a lot from them. I really consider myself lucky that I got a chance to work with such great actors.

Do you relate yourself with your character of Preeti?

Yes Preeti’s character is just like Ashlesha. Preeti’s character is shown to be strong headed person, sweet, has a pleasant nature; she is a goal oriented person and she is like a girl next door. I am exactly the same person in real life. When I got this role I was very happy because I was actually looking forward to play such kind of a role where I have to be myself.

Are you looking forward to play a lead role?

I was doing a lead role in Balaji’s show Kya Haadsaa Kya Haqeeqat and later Ekta Kapoor ji told me that she has a better role for me in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi of Tisha. As Kyunki was a very popular show I switched and I was very happy with the role. I believe the role you do should be strong and important not necessary it should be lead role. I am satisfied with the kind of role I am doing and I have done. And being a side artist I get my space and time for myself, for my personal life. If you are in a lead role as I experienced during Kya Haadsaa Kya Haqeeqat, you have to give your whole time for the show and doesn’t get any time for yourself. So I am glad that I am playing an important character in the show rather being a main lead.

How is your equation with other stars on the set especially with Disha Parmar as she is a new comer, so did you along with the other actors played any prank on her?

Disha Parmar is a very smart and intelligent girl. Though she was a new comer she was prepared and is very confident about her and whatever she does. She is a girl who is ahead of her time. When I came in this industry I was very shy and took time to open up myself with the other people and actors but Disha is completely opposite. We have a great time on sets. Many times I tried to play pranks on her but she never got into the trap in any of my prank as she is very smart and impulsive. We are very good friends but I like spending much time with Nakuul Mehta because he is fun to be around. Aisa lagta hai who meri sister hai aur mai uska bhai (laughs).

What is your interest other than acting?

I love cooking a lot other than that I like spending time with my loved ones and I love to sleep.

Do you have dream to work in Bollywood?

Yes why not and which actor doesn’t want to work in Bollywood. If I get a chance and a good offer then I would definitely go for it.

A message to your fan?

I was never on any social networking site but I am happy that my fans love me so much. I like those fans also who criticizes and are upfront because of their negative comments; I work on my flaws and can make myself better. I am really thankful to all my fans for so much love and appreciation.
