Nakuul Mehta popular as Adi from ‘Pyaar Ka Dard Hai’, is a happy man.

Starting off as an arrogant brat, his character, Adi, has now transformed as a person, which gives Nakuul a better scope to display his acting abilities. We catch up with the actor as he speaks about his role as well as about life beyond the camera.

Playing Adi: It’s wonderful that I get to display different shades of ‘Adi’. It’s natural that a person cannot behave in the same way throughout his life, so the character is close to reality. In this case, Pankhuri has had a good influence on my life. From being a stubborn and indifferent person, I am now more compassionate and loving towards my people.

Off-screen: The team of ‘PKDH’ are big foodies. Normally, the cast gathers in my room and we have lunch together. While having lunch we are already discussing what we should eat in the evening. Now it has become a joke that we come on the sets only to eat, not to work.

Real-life love story: I know my wife Jankee for about 10 years now. We started out as friends and still share that kind of a fun relationship. I believe it’s great to have someone in your life who understand you and your profession. The best part is that we belong to the industry. She being a singer understands my crazy schedule.

Family background: I take pride in the fact that my forefathers have always done something to serve the country. I belong to a royal family.

My grandfather was part of the freedom struggle, while my father was part of the 1971 war against Pakistan. I have taken up a different profession but I’m entertaining peo ple so I hope I’m doing my bit for the people (laughs).

Personal style: Adi is always stylishly dressed but off screen, I prefer casuals and anything that fits well. I have been taking active part in designing Adi’s look on the show.

Favourite things: When I’m not shooting I like going for long runs on the beach. I also love dancing a lot be it Ballroom, Cha Cha Cha or Waltz. I also like working out as it is something that destresses me completely. I would love to travel too.
