MATHURS – THE HALL
Sadanand tells the officers that it was Sanchi who’d brought Rubina. At this point, Sanchi is about to enter the house when Indu pulls her back. The officers then question the Mathurs about the issue. Veena speaks up – informing the officers that Sanchi had brought the lady along as Rubina’d had some problems with the landllord of her house.

‘Where’s your daughter?’ Balram then questions them
‘Must be out whiling her time with Indu’ Radha replies, gritting her teeth
Something seems to irk the officer and he hums sceptically ‘Oh with Indu Singh…’

Meanwhile, listening to the mention of his name, Indu decides to make a dash from the place, tugging Sanchi along with him. The four friends then return to Mehek’s car in a haste.

‘Please send your daughter and your son-in-law to the station…’ the inspector instructs the worried parents ‘We have a few questions to ask’
He then orders Sadanand not to leave Benaras till the investigations came to an end and then departs from the house.

TIWARI’S ROOM
Soon after, the anguished Radha dashes to her room and starts packing her bags – she could not bear to stay with cheater any more.
Sadanand confesses that he’d committed the mistake long ago and that he’d come to realize his sins too. He begs for forgiveness and for her to accept him, but she does not want to listen to anything he has to say. Why, she even fears that Sadanand might be they very person behind Rubina’s murder – a crime he’d carried out to get rid of any evidences of his immorality!
‘You may scold me as and how you wish…’ he mutters pleadingly ‘But I have no hand in the lady’s death..trust me..’
‘But…you have to be punished for the mistakes you’ve done against me’ she yells at him, gritting her teeth in anger ‘I’ve been so faithful to you all along and this is how you’ve treated me…you’ve never managed to buy me a house so far and you were ready to write off 10 lakhs in her name..what else of mine have you given her…’ she demands ‘If I don’t get the 10 lakhs back… you have no idea what I’d do…’

He takes her palms in his, requesting her to help him nab the kidnappers. However, she shirks his grip off and storms away.

INDU’S DEN
Mehek is profoundly worried by the implications of the blackmail letter now reaching the law – after all, it had her handwriting on it. While Sanchi looks on speechlessly, Indu paces about the room like a flustered lion.
‘If we can’t find the murderer before the police find us…we’re doomed…’ he admits

‘But, how?’ Manwa questions, glancing at the passbook entries unhappily. The entries had no name on them and were cash entries- thus leaving no trace of the person. ‘The letters also have no name mentioned on them…so how do we trace all this to the murderer?’

POLICE STATION
Balram is quite happy with the progress of the case. He uses a blackboard to chalk out the history of the case so far. He finds an unusual connection in the entire story.
Rubina – Sanchi – Indu – Sadanand – Goswami University
Especially in the mystifying link between Sanchi, Indu and Rubina!
Turning to his assistant, he then orders him to fetch Indu and Sanchi to the station for questioning.

INDU’S DEN
Sanchi once again advices Indu that it’d be wise to surrender to the police and tell them the truth – seeing how they’d had a very narrow escape just that morning! Besides, the police had already narrowed their searches to her house – how long could it take them to narrow it down to her!
However, Indu is livid. He argues back stating that her plans were ridiculous as they held no evidence that could proove them innocent.
‘So, if we have no clues…should we just continue lying…’ she yells. Pausing for a moment, she tones her voice down ‘Listen Indu Singh…the best path for all of us is to go over to the police and tell them about everything that happened’
‘Fine..yes..I agree I committed a mistake…’ Indu replies – his frustrations evident ‘However, if we go to the police before finding the murderer, even God wouldn’t be able to help us after that!’
‘So, should we just keep running like culprits now…’ she queries irately ‘The police have reached my house, which means we can’t even return home…’
Taming his furious temperament, Indu debates aloud ‘No..we have to go home…if we don’t go home, the members in that house will start suspecting us..and that would become even worse for us’

MATHUR’S
Just as Indu and Sanchi enter their hall, Tarachand hangs the phone receiver – The father had just received a call from the station ordering him to bring Indu and Sanchi along for questioning.
While the pair enter the house, a enraged veena steps forth and raises a question to Sanchi ‘May I ask why you’ve done all this?’
Sanchi finds herself apprehensive, wondering what her mother was referring to. ‘W…what have I done ma?’ she stammers nervously
‘If you hadn’t brought that lady home, we wouldn’t have been in such trouble’ the mother divulges. She then goes on to spew out about the ill-character of Rubina and her illicit affair with Sadanand.

Taking a moment to regroup himself from the latest bout of developments, Indu puts on an act like as though he was taken aback by the tidings. He even paces ahead, bragging that he’d have a word with his uncle about it.
‘Wait Indu Singh’ Tarachand stops him in his tracks ‘You can chat with your uncle later…firstly we need to report to the police station’
Hearing her father’s statement, the colour begins draining from Sanchi’s face!

SANCHI’S ROOM
Their faces appearing exhausted, the couple enter the room silently. Once Indu shuts the door, he instantly goes on to warn his wife that she’d better beware of how she carried herself at the station – lest the officers started suspecting them!
The pragmatic young rogue then directs his wife on how to behave at the police station and what to expect from an interrogation. ‘They’d put across many questions to challenge you, but think twice before you answer anything’ he tutors the novice ‘Don’t refer to any plan…or her involvement in it…what plan…we don’t know any plan…all right?’

‘Never knew I’d be punished so severely for trying to help someone’ Sanchi replies to his instructions heavy-heartedly. Unable to answer her, Indu looks away in guilt.

POLICE STATION
‘How do you know Rubina?’
Sanchi doesn’t know how to reply to this query. Indu starts speaking up for her, but the officer interrupts him ordering only Sanchi to answer.
A few moments later, Sanchi overcomes her nervousness and speaks up. ‘I met her one day when Rubina had been knocked down by a few hooligans…I took her home and helped her…then we’d meet often in university…one day, she told me about the problems she faced with her landlord…and that she hadn’t paid rent for the last 3 months…so I offered her a place to stay till her problems were solved’

The officer argues back stating that the landlord hadn’t mentioned facing any problems with his tenant in his statement.
In fact it was Rubina who’d left home without giving him any prior notice.

The timid Sanchi justifies herself by saying that the only truth she knew of was the information Rubina had fed them.

‘Where were you on the night of the murder? I mean you and your husband?’ the officer interrogates

Sanchi and Indu stare at each other apprehensively. Just then Sadanand answers for them ‘Busy eating ice-cream!’
Sadanand goes on to recap on the conversation they’d had on the night – the one where he’d questioned them about an ice-cream parlour beng open @ 2 am in the night!
Listening to the statements, Indu starts grinning in abashment – trying to dismiss his uncle’s claims as jokes. However, Balram, Veena and Tarachand are not impressed!
‘Actually’ Indu amends his uncle’s narration ‘The truth is that it was one of our close friend’s birthday…so we’d been out celebrating’
Acknowledging the explanation Balram asks Indu to bring forth the remaining friends who’d been with them at the party.
Vacillating on a reply, Indu stutters ‘Y..yes…why not…’ He makes a call to his friend soon after.

Some time later…
Mehek, Manwa and his family enter the station. Sobha raises a hue and cry as to the fact that her son had been summoned to the station, but her rebuttals are thwarted by the officer.

Balram then asks Mehek if she was celebrating her birthday at her place on the fateful night.
Mehek turns to Indu and watches his subtle indication. She then replies ‘yes we were all at my place celebrating my birthday’
The same question is put forth to Abhimanyu and he follows the similar lead before answering in the affirmative too!

A relieved Indu and Sanchi think they were free to go and stand up. However, the officer informs them that there was yet another person who was involved in this investigation. He asks the guilty couple to resume their seats. Glaring at each other hesitantly, Indu and Sanchi sit down once again, waiting for the ‘stranger’ to arrive.
A moment later, they learn he was none other than Mishraji – the lodge-owner. They were in for real trouble now. Exasperated, Sanchi is about to get up. However, Indu has his hand planted firmly around Sanchi’s palm – not allowing her to make any hasty move.

The officer then asks Mishraji to identify the foursome ‘Were they the same people with Rubina on the night of her murder?’
Following his cue, the man starts goring into the anxious faces of Abhimanyu, Mehek, Indu and Sanchi.
For some reason, at one point – Indu is unable to help but smile at his histronics! Probably rebuking the man’s short term memory loss!

However; a short while later, the owner confesses that these four were in fact the same boys and girls with Rubina on her fateful night.

Precap
Mishra confirming that the four of them were with Rubina on that night
