Ssumier S Pasricha, who essays the role of Shailu in Colors’ Sasural Simar Ka, is glad that his comic track with on screen wife Pari (Shweta Sinha) provides light moments for viewers in the midst of the hard-hitting track of surrogacy filled with drama.

Talking about the unique concept of surrogacy that has been made part of the story line, Ssumier says, “I feel surrogacy is science’s gift to mankind. It is a ray of hope for parents who cannot have a baby of their own, and yet can have a family through this procedure. It is a brilliant step towards new life and to depict this in television is a great move.”

On his comic track prevailing in Sasural Simar Ka where Shailu who is excited about his brother Prem getting a kid through surrogacy wants his wife too to give him a kid.

However, Pari does not wish to get into the family way.

“Shailu feels that his family is incomplete without a kid. But Pari who is figure conscious does not wish to have one. He is trying his best to convince his wife. While Shailu gets dreams of enjoying life with his kid, Pari gets dreams of her kids crying and making her life miserable. Shailu goes to a babaji and gets vibhoot for Pari, but Pari refuses to use it as her skin will get spoiled. It is to be seen whether Shailu will finally have a say of his; this track provides the comic angle and will go on a different tangent when compared to the current situation in the family.”

That’s interesting, Ssumier…
